Bushel's Vision for the Future

Bushel's Vision for the Future

We have big news, friends.

We are proud to announce that Bushel closed on a $19.5 million Series B investment round led by Continental Grain Company, with additional investment by Lewis & Clark AgriFood, Germin8 Ventures, and others including previous investors. This funding will help us continue to serve our customers and partners up and down the agriculture value chain. Thank you to our customers, team, investors, and community for helping us grow Bushel so that we can continue serving the agriculture value chain.

You can read about the details of the investment here, including what we are going to do with the investment.

But let’s look at why we raised capital for Bushel. In a lot of ways, we didn’t have to. We have strong revenue growth, well-adopted products and services, a team that is second to none, and customer relationships that seem more like friendships than business transactions.

So why did we do it?

We did it because we know there’s more we can do, and time is ticking. Our vision is to build the digital infrastructure for the grain industry. In the U.S., the physical infrastructure of roads, rails, terminals, shipping ports, etc. could be considered the greatest advancement to the supply chain in the last century. The robust network has allowed the rural heartland to become a major part in the world-wide exporting system. We can get grain from Point A to Point B pretty efficiently.

The digital infrastructure, on the other hand is the wild west. It’s archaic, non-standard, individualistic, and protectionist. Grain facilities aren’t efficiently connected to their growers, one another, or processing centers. There’s no blame here. The grain industry and more broadly, the agriculture value chain, has been largely under-served when it comes to digital technology advancements. Bushel is here to fix that.

We understand the headwinds our customers are facing. We hear it in conversations with them and we see it back home in our families who farm. That’s why our team is going to take a brief moment to celebrate today and then, like the customers we serve, we’re going to get back to work. This investment is about our customers, this industry, and an increased ability to serve the agriculture value chain better.

We are grateful for everyone’s continued trust and commitment that allows us to build products and solutions that serve the agriculture value chain. It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly. Bushel is here to support, serve, connect, and advocate for the agribusinesses that serve our rural communities.

One of our team members had a grandfather who always told her, “If you want good things to happen, surround yourself with good people.”

Thank you for being the good people we’re surrounding ourselves with.

Now, let’s get to work.
