On this very first International Day of Clean Energy, we’re highlighting the transformative work of our Health Electrification and Telecommunications Alliance (#HETA). In Tanzania, roughly 250 pharmacy and drug shop owners like Fides, Clementina and Hussein have new solar panels, installed by HETA partner ZOLA Electric, that keep the lights on while also powering digital business management software from Maisha Meds, also a HETA partner. With this bundled solution, they can: ⚡️🔋 Stay open later and keep operating during power outages from the grid – serving more clients in need of healthcare products and services 📲 Keep track of stocks of medicines and other health commodities and send electronic receipts, streamlining business operations 💊Easily identify expired medicines – making sure clients have access to the health commodities they need HETA is Power Africa’s flagship program for health facility electrification and digital connectivity in sub-Saharan Africa. Working with diverse partners, we’re creating bundled solutions for electricity and digital connectivity that support improved health service delivery. So far, Abt Associates and other HETA partners have reached more than 250 health facilities with clean energy in Tanzania and Nigeria, with results coming soon from DRC, Eswatini, Mozambique, and other countries. 👍 Ready to join the alliance? We’re an open platform with space for investors, implementation partners, and innovators working on energy, and digital solutions for health across the continent: https://lnkd.in/dzj9GFPe 📷 HETA #PoweringHealthcare #SDG7 #SDG3 #CleanEnergyDay #PowerAfrica USAID Gina Cady Heran Abiy Jaime Lee J.
