🎉 Celebrating Another Pre-Reg Graduate! 🎉 We are delighted to feature Chun Haw Ooi, who has successfully completed his training and is now transitioning to a full-time pharmacist at Watsons Singapore. Chun Haw completed his pharmacy education at the International Medical University, where his academic journey provided him with essential knowledge and hands-on experience. During his time as a pre-reg pharmacist at Watsons, Chun Haw benefited from the exceptional support and guidance of his preceptors, including Senior Principal Clinical Pharmacist Wing Lam, Senior Pharmacist Su yin Lim, Pharmacist Wee Teng Soh, and Pharmacist Teck Ian Chong. Special credits to Teck Ian, his main preceptor, who provided not only guidance at work but also significant mental support and advice on social life in Singapore. Their mentorship has been instrumental in enhancing his clinical skills and preparing him for various patient care scenarios. Chun Haw learned the importance of effective communication and meticulous attention to detail, which are critical in delivering high-quality patient care. An unforgettable experience during Chun Haw’s training was when he had the opportunity to assist a tourist in urgent need of heart medication but without a prescription. Despite this challenge, he swiftly arranged the customer to obtain an online prescription through telemedicine, enabling him to receive the necessary medication quickly. This experience not only reinforced Chun Haw’s passion for the profession but also highlighted the critical role of pharmacists in ensuring patient well-being. “One of my tips for maximising your pre-reg experience is to take initiative. Actively engage with systems and products, and participate in stocking inventory to familiarise yourself with both the system and available products. Most importantly, be proactive in approaching customers to gain valuable exposure and enhanced your learning," says Chun Haw Ooi, who has completed his training and is now transitioning to a full-time role. Reflections of a trainee pharmacist - 9 months in: •I’ve worked with a few pharmacists this month and I can’t emphasise how important it is to speak to the different pharmacists you come across. They each have so much useful advice to give, especially recently qualified pharmacists who still have their exam tips fresh in their heads! Through their advice, I’ve changed and added to my revision plan to make it more effective as we get closer to the exam. It’s also so motivating talking to different pharmacists and hearing different stories •Revisiting and learning my notes - realised I was so extra when I was making my notes as there’s a lot of excess information that I do not need so working out what’s relevant/irrelevant is a big part of revising too •Study leave is booked, I have a good plan in place which is reassuring but nerves are going to be there regardless. We have all we need to pass, it’s just a matter of putting it to good use •Week 39 is upon us which means registration for the summer exam is open. I can’t believe it’s that time already! #pharmacy #traineepharmacist #reflections

Australian Immigration trends In the *Previous FY* (Visas granted 2022-23), Retail, industrial, hospital, technician and pharmacy sales assistants were in the list who received invites. In the *Current FY list* as well they are present but sales assistants have been removed from focus and in other occupations also very few got invited. In the *Coming FY*, proposed plan, Retail Pharmacists are surely to be included to receive invites whereas hospital, tech, industrial pharmacists are skeptical to get invited and sales assistants again will definitely not be the focus of invitations for the coming FY. To become a registered pharmacist in the UK if you are an overseas graduate, there are several steps you need to follow: Check if your pharmacy qualification is internationally recognized: Ensure that your pharmacy qualification is recognized by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in the UK. You can visit their website or contact them directly to verify this. English language proficiency: If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your proficiency by achieving a minimum score in an approved English language test. The GPhC has specific requirements for language proficiency, so ensure you meet those standards. - Welcome Ramsay Pharmacy Interns - We are excited to share the completion of our Ramsay Pharmacy White Coat Ceremonies held across Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales. Over the past two weeks, we've proudly welcomed our 2024 interns into the pharmacy profession. CEO Ramsay Pharmacy and Psychology, Michelle Lynch said ‘the pharmacy interns are a critical part of our workforce and a way for us to support the future medicine experts within the profession and as part of our team at Ramsay’. During these ceremonies, our interns received their pharmacist white coats, marking their official induction into the pharmacy profession. They also received personalised Australian Medicines Handbooks to support them in their studies and exams this year. This provided them with a fantastic opportunity to connect with Ramsay Pharmacy leaders and representatives from Viatris, who graciously supported the event. This coincided seamlessly with the launch of our Ramsay Health Care GradPlus program, which supports and trains our multi-disciplinary healthcare team along their professional journey.
