Associate Manager- Talent Casting, Hong Kong Disneyland Passionate about seeing Performers' dreams come true!
Almost 4am in Hong Kong, Mar 27. I just submitted my proposal for the professor to review and feedback before we officially kick off the 3-4mnth Dissertation journey ahead. It’s going to be an adventurous summer for me, with interviews and data surveys to build a case for the impact of changing work practices on employees in Hong Kong based organisations. Organisations nowadays are moving much faster than they did even as recently as a decade ago. But what does that mean for the employees who make up the fabric of the organisation and its culture (or sub-cultures)? What initiatives are organisations exploring, to cushion the blow that comes with managing change, since change is inevitable, and at this rate, since change might be a shock even to those who have been part of it before? Looking forward to exploring these and other cases in coming months! For now, time for a little break and reunion with the mentors in Thailand.

Science vs social life: New era is much dramatic than past, researchers are must need to advertise their research to the world, because Science becoming more flexible, and especially like #RSC, #ACS and more associations are trying to educate about research and giving visualized experience to the world. Emerging as a sustainable researcher in present, definitely needs to adopt social mark and have a advertising skill to promoto your prospective and outcome bound intelligence, which are essential for getting funding for research. #personal quote as a researcher connecting to the world means accepting convection as a researcher🤪🤪 #Night life #kuala Lumpur #Malaysia

Deputy Dean (Employability & Alumni) & Head of Centre for Actuarial and Analytics Research, School of Mathematical Sciences @ Sunway University; Associate Fellow @ Sunway Institute for Global Strategy and Competitiveness
Throwback to last Thursday when Daniel Lee Lih Wei (Director, Research Engagement & Impact and Sunway R&D Sdn Bhd) took time out to bring me and my research collaborators, including Associate Professor Dr Tomas Zelinsky (Durham University; Technical University of Košice), and Cash Looi (recent Econometrics (Hons) graduate from Monash University Australia) to "turun padang" (go to the field) at a nearby housing area which houses vulnerable (and maybe marginalised) communities. This housing area will be an educational and research hub for Sunway University in the coming years, with students carrying out community service projects and academics/researchers seeking ways and interventions to improve the lives and livelihoods of the residents there. The walkaround visit was quite an eye-opener, and it sparked some interesting discussion among us about potential research ideas, challenging some of the conventional views commonly held. As I walked around the neighbourhood that houses almost 30,000 people, I could only imagine the time, effort and dedication the university leadership team invested in building rapport and trust with the community leaders, ultimately opening doors for meaningful engagement and paving the way for impactful outcomes that will better the lives of the community. I'm sure a lot of money has gone in and will continue to be poured into this initiative as well, and I'm glad that the leadership team saw this not as an expense but as an investment that will have a significant return on value (ROV) economically, socially and environmentally. This is strategic leadership at its best. In the words of the Sunway Group Chairman, Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah, "I aspire to inspire before I expire". What a vision for leaders to attain! #research #engagement #vulnerablecommunities #ROV #leadership

🌟 Igniting Innovation: Deeper Insights from Kelvin Wong's Masterclass 🌟 "Imagination is more important than knowledge," said Albert Einstein. Kelvin, the technical director of Master Concept Group, brought this principle to life in his sharing at Generation Hong Kong. His insights encouraged our learners to prioritize creativity alongside their technical skills. During the session, Kelvin emphasized the value of 'Smart people'—those who apply critical thinking to their work. He shared stories of Generation alumni who have advanced within Master Concept, illustrating the real-world impact of our educational programs. Our partnership with Master Concept is a testament to our commitment to bridging education and employment. It's a practical example of how we're addressing the global skills gap and creating career opportunities for young professionals. We invite other corporations to collaborate with us. Helping busy parents spend time with their children while at the same time developing children's emotional intelligence through a fun and creative t-shirt design kit.
The Power of Connecting with Young Minds Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to present on "The Relationship between a Consumer and Producer" to two classes of curious 9-year-olds at Fairview International School Kuala Lumpur. It was an experience that was both enlightening and humbling. We decided to keep things simple, focusing on our journey—how we come up with ideas, execute them, and why we started our business. But the real lesson came from the students themselves. One particularly inquisitive student asked, "How do you collaborate with other businesses?" I was floored by the depth of their question! It reminded me that curiosity and understanding aren’t limited by age. This session was more than just a presentation; it was a chance for us to conduct some impromptu market research. Engaging with kids and discovering what they’re passionate about was incredibly insightful. Who knew that talking to kids about what they like could be so perfect for understanding our market better? Taking time out of our schedules to meet these young minds wasn’t just beneficial for them; it was a mutual exchange of knowledge. We learned as much from them as they did from us. Connecting with our audience, especially the younger generation, is invaluable. It helps us stay grounded and innovative. Their fresh perspectives are a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration. Here’s to learning and growing together, regardless of age. #BusinessJourney #YouthEngagement #MarketResearch #CuriosityUnleashed #LearningTogether #Inspiration #Entrepreneurship #Innovation

Xingyi JING (Class of 2024) 👨🎓 Master of Global Management 🎓 ✨Making up your mind is the first step in doing research.✨ I majored in Marketing at the University of Sydney for my undergraduate degree, and at that time I was keen to gain some knowledge with an international and global perspective, so after graduation I chose to pursue a Master of Global Management at HKU Business School. Many people think that a one-year taught postgraduate programme is career orientated, but actually there is no definite limit. As a taught postgraduate student who wants to do research, the most crucial and first thing to do is to be determined. Quite a lot of experience shows us that doing research is by no means an easy task, nor is it a path that can lead to significant results in the short term. If one makes a hasty decision to pursue further education on impulse, or even to avoid employment, by the time one truly realises that he or she is not interested in the chosen research field, the cost of time lost will be irreplaceable. ✨Opportunities are limited, so it's essential to be "Fast, Precise and Hard".✨ During my postgraduate studies at HKU Business School, I enrolled in an ESG course which I was deeply interested in. When I got in touch with Dr. Shipeng YAN, the instructor of the course, I found that he was quite willing to help students to further develop their knowledge beyond the classroom. So, I was lucky enough to get involved in the project I was passionate about and published an article about ESG in the Hong Kong Economic Journal with Dr. YAN recently. Therefore, I have always believed that many opportunities are self-earned. Employment and scientific research are not two completely opposite paths. There are quite a few seniors who, after working for a period of time, find that they are more passionate about academics and therefore choose to continue their studies. However, the key is whether we can seize these opportunities, and whether we have done enough to prepare accordingly in advance in order to get the opportunity, including GPA, internships, project experience and more. Thus, we would rather work harder and better to equip ourselves with more "stamina", so that we can grasp the opportunities quickly, precisely and hard when they arise.

💥 Another milestone reached 💥 Just before Christmas, I received my official university certificate, which means I can now announce that I have officially completed my Master's in "Business Consulting & Digital Management" at FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management in Düsseldorf! 🎓🚀 The past years have been an intensive journey filled with challenges and learning moments, and I am grateful for the support of my family, friends, and my lovely fiancée. A special thanks to the experts who agreed to participate in the prior qualitative research and, above all a special thank you to my supervisor Prof. Dr. Carolin Tewes, who not only supported me with her expertise during this thesis, but above all encouraged me to explore this existing research gap. In my final thesis, I examined the possibilities and limitations of environmentally sustainable OTC pharmaceutical packaging in terms of its sales-promoting influence and came to the following conclusions: 1. Environmental sustainability has not yet reached the level of OTC products 2. However, there is a strong interest among the participants in this work 3. In addition, there is a higher willingness to pay compared to non-sustainably packaged OTC products This not only provides a first insight into this still under-researched topic, but also offers a starting point for further research. 🔬 Thank you to everyone who participated in my work. I wish everyone a happy new year in advance. 🎉 #MasterDegree #BusinessConsulting #DigitalManagement #FOMDüsseldorf #Milestone

Marketing Enthusiast | Graduate of International Business Administration with concentration in Marketing
One step closer🎓 I would like to share about my journey through successfully defending my bachelor thesis this week. I have pursued my passion for marketing through the exploration of consumer behavior within my bachelor’s degree, hence, I have researched and completed my final thesis project on the topic of “The Impact on Consumer Behavior Created by Sustainability Actions of Supermarket Businesses in Lithuania”. I firmly believe that it will serve as a great tool for sustainable initiatives to be more widely implemented in today’s retail industry, help gain more insight into consumer behavior, and help utilize certain techniques within the marketing field. As the full completion of my studies at LCC International University, Lithuania is coming to an end, taking place at the graduation ceremony already next week, it is good to reflect on all the educational milestones I have experienced, the effort put into my work, and all the people who have helped me through this process. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have studied here, met many intelligent and driven people, as well as being surrounded by encouraging opportunities that made me who I am today. #professionaldevelopment #studies #bachelorsdegree #education #marketing #consumerbehavior #sustainability
