Soon after founding Racing Prodigy, we were told by a team principal at a top-level racing series in the U.S. that “racing does not need another series.” Our response: “It needs one more. One that’s accessible to everyone, regardless of #background, #location, #gender, or #pocketbook. The fact is, #racing as a whole has been a male-dominated profession for a very, very long time, typically by those who can afford to enter and remain in the sport. It certainly should not be, and doesn't have to be. As one more step in pursuing that mission, Racing Prodigy, Street Kart Racing, and INDYCAR driver, Katherine Legge, have partnered to give the Top 50 Fastest Women in-game the opportunity to join us for Prodigy Week Pt. 2 - at Atlanta Motorsports Park, beginning May 13th. This racer, along with 31 others, will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a real race car, and compete for a chance at being drafted for a full-time racing seat in the real-world Prodigy Racing League, featuring six teams of four drivers each. The bottom line is, the pursuit of excellence comes in all forms, and from all places. At Racing Prodigy, our job is to find the world's most-talented drivers. Reflecting on an exhilarating Sebring 12-hour Special Event in the iRacing Sim-World 🏁 🏎️ ! What an adrenaline-fueled journey it was at the Sebring International Raceway, navigating the twists and turns of the virtual track in the Williams Esports BenQ Audi R8 GT3 Evo, paired with driver Parker White 🟣⚪️. Race Report: As a multi-class race, every moment was charged with strategic maneuvers and split-second decisions, and with the introduction of the new dynamic Weather features, the ability to adapt and strategize was more crucial than ever in navigating the ever-challenging conditions of endurance racing ⛈ ❗️. Starting from the pole position was a testament to our team's dedication and skill, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown. However, as with any intense competition, challenges inevitably arose. A sudden internet disconnect tested our resilience and, unfortunately, cost us precious time in the heat of the race, ultimately denying us the chance for a race win. Yet, true to the spirit of endurance racing, we rallied together, refusing to let setbacks define our performance. In the end, securing the 4th position, albeit with a 1 minute and 10-second gap to the lead car, left us with mixed emotions. While disappointment lingered, it was overshadowed by the numerous positives gleaned from the experience 📈 . Notably, while our performance didn't result in a triumph, the Williams Esports cars in the LMP2 and GTP classes secured victories, showcasing the depth of talent within our organization across multiple classes 🏆 🏆 . Moreover, this race marked a significant milestone as the inaugural event featuring the rebranded Williams cars, signifying a new chapter in our journey towards excellence 📖. 🏎️💨 I haven't been that enthusiastic about Formula 1 from the sport perspective lately. Yet now, when the Las Vegas GP will take over in the upcoming weekend, it’s interesting to follow it from the business standpoint. What makes it interesting, you might ask? 🧐 Formula 1 is running a pretty asset-light business model without owning teams, cars, and race tracks or even putting on the races itself. They are mainly making money through three channels: 💰 Media rights 💰 Sponsorships 💰 Race promotion TV networks are paying for the rights to host the races and brands are paying for the opportunity to reach and engage the +1 billion people fanbase of F1. But how about race promotion if F1 doesn’t put on the races itself? F1 collects hosting fee from the cities, race promoters, and race tracks for the opportunity to host the race. Race promoters will monetize that opportunity through ticket sales, merchandise, parking, etc. The size of these deals varies from place to place but the bottom line is that race promoters will carry the responsibility and risk against the opportunity for profits, which usually pays off. The upside for Formula 1 is between $15-55 million per race and race promoters have an opportunity to make hundreds of millions per weekend. So what’s different in Vegas this year? This time, Formula 1 will put this race on itself and have invested about $500 million for the opportunity, including $240 million for the new paddock building (in the picture) alone. They have a contract with Las Vegas for 10 years so in a successful scenario, they will gain significantly better profits compared to typical race weekends. There has been complaints about high ticket prices, etc. though, so I’m excited to see how this plays out, and if the race promotion is going to be a future growth strategy for Formula 1. #SportBusiness #SportBiz #Sports #LinkedInSports #Formula1 #LasVegasGP

Bones. Throughout most of my childhood that was my nickname. Growing up I loved skateboarding and always rocked a Bones Brigade t-shirt. Not the bald beauty you know today, but a full on Tony Hawk flop hairstyle. Kick-flipping my way thru adolescence. Flash forward to yesterday and the Olympic Finals of Skateboard Park. Athletes risking life and limb to land the best tricks with amazing style. Not only was it a showcase of incredible talent but a celebration of everything great in the sport. Don't let any legacy stereotypes fool you around the culture of skateboarding. On display yesterday is what the sport is about, a celebration. A celebration of skill, competition, creativity, perseverance and so much more. It's a celebration we should all appreciate and if possible bring into other areas of life. Life, as in the combination of business and personal. The Getty photo here of Keegan Palmer on the shoulders of his competitors captured it so well. Greatness celebrating greatness. I get it. It was fun to skate downtown Evansville or if we were lucky hitting the ditch at Lincoln State Park. You'd push yourself to land that first handrail or smash your shin on a bench grind 50/50. Regardless, when you landed that trick the entire crew with you would celebrate. What can we take away from yesterday? One thing is that life may be an individual sport with support from your people. The opportunity is to find more ways to lift others up. It may sound cheesy but its real and it feels awesome. Like a skater finding his line around the park, everything is a choice. It's a choice to celebrate others or do the right thing. It's also a choice to be a prick. Choose better. Do yourself a favor. very interesting yet cool to see that the 2 teams I drove for in 2023, YOUNG'S MOTORSPORTS LLC & Alpha Prime Racing led the entire sport in the amount of partnerships in the season. It's important which teams you bring partners to, they make the experience worth it. Whether it be radios and seating at the race track, hauler tours, all the content/graphics looking good and professional. 🛹 Skateboarding legend, Tony Hawk, was the first to land many tricks, including "The 900" - an incredible two-and-a-half spin in the air just after leaving the ramp. An epic trick very few have landed since. Landing The 900 didn't just happen. 10 years earlier, the 900 was last on Tony's wish list of tricks he wanted to conquer. On the day he first landed the 900, it was after 10 failed attempts in front of a huge crowd at the 1999 X Games V. Accomplishing such a great feat took over 10 years of dreaming about it and who knows how many failed attempts! Tony talked about landing The 900 in a podcast with Joe Fairless and he shared how he was able to accomplish something that most people considered impossible. “I had the physical skills to do it for years before I really figured out the mental aspects of it. The mental aspects are [believing] it’s possible,” Tony said. “And so much of it is having confidence. I use that analogy to all kinds of things, but really the idea that you have the confidence in the skill set to make something happen – that’s just as important as doing it, or as the idea of it in itself.” What do you hope to accomplish this month, this year and even in 10 years?
