Vienna's biggest shopping center, #WestfieldDonauZentrum, has extended its #photovoltaic system, setting a new #milestone in climate and environmental protection. The original system, established in 2014, was the largest photovoltaic installation on a shopping center roof in Austria and the largest rooftop system in Vienna. Ten years later, as part of the group-wide sustainability initiative #BetterPlaces2030, the center achieves another milestone by collaborating with @10hoch4Energiesysteme to expand the existing photovoltaic system with two additional installations. Altogether, the center now boasts a total system with an impressive nominal output of 2,200 kilowatt-peak . The expanded installation will generate approximately two million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the yearly power consumption of around 615 average Austrian households. 💡 City Councillor #JürgenCzernohorszky, SPÖ Club Leader #JosefTaucher, and District Head #ErnstNevrivy attended the commissioning alongside center manager @ZsoltJuhasz to celebrate this great step towards more sustainability. 🔋 #westfield #urw #betterplaces #reinventbeingtogether #sustainability Zsolt Juhasz Katalin Szabó

🌍 Transforming Europe's Building Stock: Insights on the Role of One-Stop-Shops 🏡 There is an urgent need to align Europe's building stock with ambitious climate objectives. Buildings contribute significantly to energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, prompting innovative initiatives to catalyse change. Pioneering EU-funded projects like Save the Homes are pivotal in this shift, with citizen hubs in ICLEI Members Valencia (Spain), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), and beyond spearheading local renovation endeavours. Recently, a collaborative workshop convened by València Clima i Energia, Ajuntament de Sant Cugat del Vallès, and partners delved into the role of One-Stop-Shops (OSS) in driving energy renovation rates. What can help facilitate this shift? 🏘️ Age of housing stock: Addressing older housing for efficiency improvements is a pressing need in Valencia. 🌱 Massive Renovation Programme: Initiatives like CitiES2030 and Green Building Council Spain mobilise stakeholders effectively. 💰 Effectiveness of Bonuses: Bonuses for renewable energy implementation showcased effectiveness over subsidies. 🏠 Tax Incentives and Energy Efficiency: Debate ensues on linking efficiency ratings to incentives and their societal impact. 📣 Communication & Outreach: Utilizing diverse communication channels is key for citizen engagement. 👥 Office Staffing: Evolving energy offices need diverse skill sets for efficient operation. 📊 Data Tools: Tools like RenovEU aid in project feasibility assessment and subsidy access. 🤝 Public-Private Collaboration: Collaboration is crucial, translating technical projects into financial viability. 🏢 Addressing Vulnerable Buildings: Special attention and immediate support for vulnerable housing are imperative. 🔄 Replication of Services: Sharing best practices and tools aids in scaling renovation efforts across regions. The commitment to transforming Europe's building stock is evident. Save the Homes' efforts in supporting citizen hubs and providing replication guidelines underline the collaborative approach needed for success. Together, we pave the way for sustainable, energy-efficient housing across Europe. Learn more 👉 https://buff.ly/40SEZvb #SaveTheHomes #HomeRenovations #Sustainability #Innovation

🌱 At MDC2, sustainability isn't just a buzzword. See what we have done with respect to making the world the cleaner and greener one: 🌍 **Carbon Footprint Reduction:** In MDC2 Park Łódź South, we've successfully reduced our embedded carbon footprint: we achieved CO2 equivalent of 163 kg CO2e/m2, significantly lower than the average Polish results of 319 kg CO2e/m2, which is an astonishing 61% lower than the global average (413 kg CO2 e/m2). 🏗️ **Setting the Standard:** MDC2 Park Gliwice is within top 20 highest rated industrial buildings across Europe. With our rigorous adherence to BREEAM New Construction standards, we're on track to achieve the highest rating in Poland for this project. MDC2 Park Gliwice was opened in November 2023 and attracted several corporate tenants i.e. ROHLIG SUUS Logistics and AFL 🌟 **Leading by Example:** Since our establishment in 2021, we've been at the forefront of ESG in the Polish industrial market. As the first Polish developer to ensure all our projects meet BREEAM New Construction standards at the Excellent level as a minimum, we've set a precedent for the industry. One of our key initiatives in this journey towards sustainability is our collaboration with Fundacja Las Na Zawsze. Together, we are not only preserving precious forests but actively participating in reforestation efforts. Transparency is crucial in our commitment to sustainability. That's why we make it a priority to report extensively on our corporate carbon footprint, to conduct comprehensive LCAs to evaluate the environmental impacts across an entire lifecycle of a building. By partnering with suppliers who share our values and adhere to sustainable practices, we're fostering a supply chain that reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship. Together, we're driving positive change and shaping a more sustainable built environment for generations to come. #ESG #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #BREEAM #warehouse #poland #buildingforgood
