Happy Autumn everyone (or at least that's what I suspect Mr Hunt said yesterday under his breath!) Payroll teams around the City need to get ready: The main rate of employees’ NIC is to be reduced by 2%, to 10%, from 6 January 2024 The main rate of Class 4 NICs, paid by those self-employed in your organisation, will be cut by 1%, to 8%, from 6 April 2024 Class 2 NICs, paid by the self-employed in your company, will be abolished from 6 April 2024. Work with your payroll providers to make sure everything is in place. You could go one step further and explain what this means to your staff in terms of their pay, as not everyone understands politics or is interested in it. A simple one pager posted on your intranet should suffice. There are lots on LinkedIn today so a cut and paste can be done! Roll on the Spring budget (groan).
