I'm going to go out on a limb here ... one of my biggest frustrations in education is constant politicisation and mediasation of education. In other words how politicians and media play games with education to suit some agenda. It doesn't matter what side of politics or what media organisation - everyone seems to simplify the complexity and challenges of what it is to teach and learn in schools. What other institution is being asked to do so much for society with so little consistent funding to those in need? If we are to build a society that is just and equal for all with no one left out then it can't be addressed in silos. To take a sporting metaphor ... it needs a full court press - education, health, parent education, justice, reconciliation, trauma informed practices, policies and processes, and more. There is so little systems thinking going on that any proposed solution will become the next problem.
