Ads suck. Most are boring and people hate them. But if you're gonna waste money on ads, try something different. Ryanair's "cheapest airline" idea isn't amazing, but it's not the usual crap. Why not go further? Make comparisons that actually surprise people. Fitness folks do this with food. They say stuff like "1 plate of nachos = 8 hours swimming." It's a bummer, right? Now picture someone eating nachos while swimming. Stupid? Yes. But you'll remember it. Want to make people uncomfortable? Try these: 1. Office day vs. jail day 2. Fancy bag cost vs. rent for a poor family 3. Instagram time vs. time with dying grandma It's dark. It's weird. It might make people think. Or they'll ignore it like every other ad. But at least you tried something new in this sea of boring ads. Face it, ads are fighting a losing battle for people's attention and money. Might as well try some strange comparisons. Or don't. It probably won't matter anyway.
