The Wimbledon tennis tournament is close to home, quite literally, because I grew up around the corner. Now. Now, tennis undeniably put Wimbledon on the map. That, and, of course, the ground. The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we come up? We're a little bit further out than the town centre. I've brought you here for a specific reason. Any guesses? Something illegal, possibly? Not quite so. Last year we really missed the serve and Wimbledon by not getting any content. We didn't come. Knowing that we'd missed the boat for 2023, I figured I had to give myself an ironclad content opportunity for next year, so I got my longtime collaborator Tom to leave me a brief on an SD card. Which I would then bury in July 2023 to execute on this very day in July 2024 at the height of Wimbledon. Now I just need to remember where I buried the booty. Let's go. I think it's in here. Are you bringing me to my demise? Like, what's what's going on here? I really remember this branch for veracity that this was in fact buried last year. This is mulch from winter, right? Now let's start digging. Why was it I can't have buried it this deep? I mean, was it here? I just don't remember this. It can't be here. Too many roots. Well, I can't believe it. This has been buried for 12 months, fresh as the day it was planted. Matthew, welcome to your very own time machine. I'm talking to you now from 2023 and back here in 2023. ASMR is all the rage. And like most social fads, trends, whatever you want to call them, I'm assuming it's still popular 12 months later. That's how it normally works. Your mission, should you choose to accept it. Is to go and ask people the following one why Wimbledon is so special 2. How many strings are on a tennis racket? And finally, to play into the SMR go and get people to give you Wimbledon in a sound. With Wimbledon Village looking like a kids tennis themed Halloween party, we decided to venture to the pearly gates of Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club itself to soak up the vibes and complete the task from the past from the SD card buried for the last 12 months. God, this is a weird job. Would you like to answer a question through the. But what's special about Wimbledon? Wimbledon is Wimbledon, that's what beyond Borg said, you know. Goes above all of them. You know what, it's really good vibes. Like, even if you're working here, atmosphere is pretty great. Most people have got a smile on their face no matter what happens. It's a Grand Slam. It's an amazing tournament, Great place to be. Best players in the world. I've watched it all my life. What is so special about Wimbledon? Carlos Alcarez, handsome Spanish man. Well, nobody's handsome. I mean, I'm playing. Do you think he's handsome? I mean, I'm not saying he's not handsome, but I'm concentrating on his tennis. What makes Wimbledon so special? Can't go wrong with strawberries and cream and lemon with myself. So yeah, just. Tulsa NASDAQ saying I don't understand Mandarin. You've been dragged here. Yeah. Against your will. Yes. This is one of the oldest sports tournaments in in the history next to the British Open. Do you know what that is? The the golf thing. Do you live here? No, I live in Toronto. It sounds like you should move here. Are you here for the tennis or you just walking past? I don't know the rules. I don't know how it works. How many strings are there on a tennis racket? 1420 Thirty two 1001. Why did you add the extra 1? Because I was counting in my. It was 1001. If Wimbledon was a sound, what sound would it be? Could you make it? Ohh. Woohoo Bush, sure. Ohh, I'm not doing that, I'm afraid. No, not chance. Mind the gap. As in silence. You want me to be silent? Wimbledon is a legacy event. How do you see sort of influencers and brands fitting into that? A lot of these events people know about, but Wimbledon, everybody knows about it. Even if you're not interested in tennis. So even just by using Wimbledon as a hook in the video, you're going to get more people watching, social performance aside, when you take influences along to a a tennis event. It's bigger than just social media, you know, you're getting people on the ground to engage properly with that influencer who's there on behalf of your brand. So they're pretty much there is an ambassador for you. I've heard that you're the man to talk to about tennis, mainly the ATP World Tour that we have done some work on, am I right? We've gone to a couple of tennis events this year. So we've been to Madrid, to Miami, to Indian Wells. Indian Wells is like the Holy Grail of tennis. They call it tennis paradise. And then we've got a few more. Coming up throughout the year, you've got more events. Yeah, we'll be off to China. I think we'll have to Beijing to do one. Wow. OK. I mean, it is literally a world tour. I guess it's in the name. The main objective is been to grow the brand within a younger audience, specifically within tennis, which is why they're sponsoring these tennis events. So we've taken like sports interviewers that have over 9 million followers across platforms. And then we've also taken, like the biggest tennis influencers who on the scale of things, actually aren't that large. We've worked with the likes of Dillon Gee, who's who's probably the biggest tennis influencer in the world, but he only has just short of 600,000 followers. If you're talking to a tennis community, you want to use a tennis influencer to do that because it's the most authentic way to do it. While you were tennis fan before you were put on this campaign, I knew about tennis, but would I sit down and watch it on the TV? Like absolutely not. You go to a live event, it's hard not to get hooked into the sport. We worked with Thomas Echeverri, who's a tennis pro as well, and now I just want to follow his. Funny because he's such a nice guy, you see that kind of behind the camera and when he's when you're working with him as well. Was not a tennis fan before, but I mean, I've got a signed ball by Rafa Nadal, his last ever win, his last ever event in Madrid. Like it's crazy. Anyway, I can flip a dog to a million? Don't like to brag. You're the second Canadian I've spoken to. What was his name? He looked like a Kevin. A Kevin? I know Kevin. Are you famous? You giving me famous vibes? No famous vibes. OK, maybe you should decide to be famous. I can decide that. Yeah. So we've got a gentleman behind us. Definitely undercover. Comes and asks me and Luke what we're doing, who we are. If we're dangerous to the public. It's not doing a very good job at staying undercover.
