Why HR round is more important than Technical round? Recently I switched job from Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] to Unify Technologies client being, HARMAN International. The joining date conveyed to me was 27/12/2023 just 1 week back. I was settled in Coimbatore from where I had to relocate to Bangalore. So that's why I asked Unify Technologies which of the following 2 options, I should go with: 1: Either they let me join around 2nd week of January,2024. By that time I will get settled in Bangalore and complete few health check-ups I was going through that time. 2: I can join by the informed date but in that case I would be needing few leaves in between to properly settle down and fully focus on work. But, no heed was paid to the importance of this conversation (despite being told that I can go with option 2) when I joined HARMAN International on 2/1/2024. I had to take few leaves in between which caused a negative impression of me with my product manager. I am really sorry to say that people of such talent fail to understand the basic human needs and lack the humanity to at least be a little considerate. I was dropped from the project and ultimately fired from Unify as well on 20/02/2024. I understood the severity of the project and worked really hard to grasp the concepts as soon as possible and I have all the documentation of the work that I did in this small amount of time. But getting fired, really caused me immense pain both mentally and financially. I know the problems highlighted by me are all personal issues but sometimes a little bit of consideration should be given so that work doesn't get effected. Lastly, just a humbler reminder to the managers, Please consider your employees as HUMANS. Is Work From Home really good or bad?   Earlier I thought of it as extremely good for everybody. Isn't it?   It saves a lot of time, money and energy of travel. I can give more time to my family. My life is sorted with WFH!   But then I went back in time and looked at my own 21 year old self in 2001.   A young kid from a Tier 2 city, like Satara, going to a Metro, like a Mumbai, was a BIG change for me.   It started right from my Marathi thinking brain to a Hindi and English thinking brain. In the earlier days, I used to think in Marathi and translate it to Hindi or English. Later I realized that to be fluent in any language, one needs to be thinking in the same.   Right from this basic to the whole culture of the office, everything was a substantial change. To add to the woes, I joined the Core Mechanical industry, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), which was full of varieties. Right from the blue collar workers to the sophisticated and extremely fluent M&M Top Management. (Yes, I dealt with them. Learnt a lot at a very very young age)   If WFH was existing by then, I would NOT have grown at all. I would have experienced 10% of what I actually experienced.   Today after seeing how the world 'looks like', I can WFH easily. I really see its benefits now. But for my younger self, going to office was the real EDUCATION. Many times I say, college just made me a Graduate, Mahindra made me an Engineer.   So, long story short, It is critical for you to go to office, if you are young (& raw). If you are old enough (with experience!) and have already seen that, its good to WFH.   What do you think?   #wfh #workculture #wfhlife
