This can significantly speed up the development process and lead to more innovative and consumer-friendly products. There are billions of distinct proteins, and finding the right solution is “like looking for a needle in a haystack”, according to Jasmin Hume, PhD Founder & CEO of Shiru “Thanks to machine learning and the availability of large datasets, we are in the middle of a revolution in how biological structure, function and interactions are inferred,” says Jasmin. “Shiru uses a combination of protein language models (PLMs) and other machine learning tools to rapidly sift through hundreds of millions of proteins and identify the best functional proteins for any given application.
