Happy to be here (with a brick) We’ve all been there… your phone has bricked. You’re at an airport or a conference and you’ve turned into a digital bloodhound, sniffing for that precious power outlet. You’re trying to think like an electrical engineer… where would they have put a power plug in this building? Then you spy your target! THERE is an outlet! You make a beeline straight for that rescuing lightning bolt. But wait!!! In your peripheral vision you detect another person also headed to your single outlet! Must. Get. There. First. This happened to me back in the BC days (before Covid) when human beings actually went to things like conferences. And the reason I am telling you about this is… my power competitor became my personal colleague. What I mean is, I ended up becoming good friends with the random power-snatching dude I met at the plug that day. Most times either one of us would have been so focused on just charging our phone that we would miss the opportunity to make a friend. What is so cool about that time is that we BOTH were open to connecting at that random time in that random place. And then reconnecting online after that chance meeting. And then leaning into finding out who that person is when they are not charging their phone. The unsurprising thing about that surprise meeting is that Milton is that way in all aspects of his life. So it turns out, it’s actually not random that we became friends. It’s just the way he shows up. Even when his phone is charged. So keep yourself open to seemingly random connections today… you never know who you might be writing a blog post about years later!
