Last week/weekend I was having a conversation with Michel Chiasson here on LinkedIn about how platform sales reps should structure initial conversations with in-house or agency partners. Like a lot of you, I've seen my fair share. Many of the conversations are good, but quite a few go off the rails early. Some sales leaders, like Mike DiNorscio and Mitch Schneider from my past, consistently nail the first conversation. Why is that? Trust me when I say, I don't want you to "customize the presentation for my business." If it's our first conversation, there's at best a 50/50 chance that you'll be wrong. You can do all the reading you want, but there will be nuance you just can't glean from publicly available content. What I'd rather you focus on is addressing three things: 1. What does your platform do?; 2. How is it different than other platforms currently available (we know, your baby is unique)?; 3. How much does it cost? If those three questions are addressed correctly from the outset, then we can have a second conversation where we dive more deeply into my pain points. Do you agree? Found out from a prospect that our "book a demo form is broken."  I took a closer look and it turns out the whole sales team's calendars are booked until the second week of January 2024 📆 Because of this, we actually had to turn off and pause some of our outbound and top-of-funnel projects.  Keegan Otter (Software Cowboy)🤠‎ and I are back to taking demos to take on the excess capacity.  How did we get here?
