I email a weekly newsletter on Tuesdays called Real Estate Makes Us Drink. It's a fun, quick read about what's happening in real estate, mortgages, home tips, and randomness. I would love to add more people to my newsletter list. It won't cost you anything, and I promise not to spam your inbox with other useless stuff. If you're interested, click the link below, and I'll add you to the list.

Here's an article from this week on a potential database to help people sell their house.
Name Your Number
It’s no secret that availability of homes for sale nationwide is very low. This is one of the main reasons the housing market is struggling to come to life. According to an article from Resi Club, there are around 82,000,000 single-family homes in the United States. Of those, only 495,000 are currently for sale. To save your calculator some work, I’ve done the math for you. That’s 0.6%….not 6%….six tenths of a percent!!!! What would it take for you to sell your house? Ever played that “game” with your friends or a realtor you know? Someone comes along, knocks on your door, calls you on the phone, sends you an email, and they ask at what amount of money it would take for you to sell your house. Maybe you’ve even thought about that without prompting. That is now a reality thanks to a startup called Galleon. On this platform, “homeowners can "name their number." By allowing homeowners to specify the price at which they would be willing to sell their homes, this platform seeks to tap into the vast reservoir of potential inventory that remains untapped in the housing market.” According to founder and CEO, Amanda Orson, “We think that being able to list your home, and to do so within a few minutes is the future. That’s the way the world will move… we’ve long been able to list things on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace in a few minutes. The time it takes to sell your home, to actually put something on the MLS system and all of the hurdles in between, is so long and so high friction that the current MLS system is just a reflection of the most motivated sellers… As a result the [active] inventory is not reflective, we believe, of the actual inventory available in the market. Ask any broker who has pocket listings, or anyone who has purchased anything off market, or any homeowner who has ever received unsolicited direct mail [from an iBuyer like Opendoor].” For now, Galleon is in the beta-phase with a small database of houses. Of course they expect to grow over time, and it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.

1moAttending this event was so special, it's not everyday that you get to chat with, and compete in games against, a literal professional athlete. Lanto was as authentic and genuine as they come, and I will certainly be rooting for him on the course this weekend!
