We should always strive to "do the right thing." At Nuffer, Smith, Tucker Public Relations, it's an essential part of how we operate. Read how we hold ourselves accountable to "doing the right thing" every day in my latest blog post from my series celebrating learnings from NST's 50 years in business.
While “doing the right thing” is likely a familiar concept for most, it holds tremendous value at NST. In President and Partner Teresa Siles latest blog post in her series celebrating learnings from NST’s 50 years in business, she explores what this concept means at our agency and how we put it into practice with our clients, partners and our team. Where are all my career transitioners at!? I’d love to hear how you successfully transitioned out of what you did before into what you’re doing now, and the steps you took to get there. Did anyone transition from staffing/recruiting, teaching, or from other field, despite the current state of our economy? Let’s start a conversation, and encourage this community!

In less than 4 months, we will be bringing together three AMAZING leaders for a powerful conversation! Our Tough Cookies Luncheon will be held on April 4, 2024 at the Overland Park Convention Center. Today, we introduce our third panelist joining the Tough Cookies Luncheon, the INCREDIBLE Fahteema Parrish, BS, MA ITMgt, ENV SP, President & Founder of Parrish & Sons Construction Co. Get to know a little more about Fahteema: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 As the Owner, President, and Founder of Parrish & Sons Construction, my journey is a colorful tapestry woven from childhood memories and the guiding wisdom of my father. Picture this: a little girl accompanying her dad on HVAC service calls to neighbors, friends, and community spaces. That was me—immersed in the world of fixing, teaching, and spreading goodwill. Despite an early nudge toward a different path, I embraced higher education, delving into Information Technology, embarking on a two-decade journey as a Software Engineer, steering global teams. Yet, amidst the tech whirlwind, the call to serve my community echoed louder. Drawing from my experiences, I found pride in failures, using them as stepping stones to smarter, more impactful work. My dad's advice to pursue education laid the foundation for a legacy—a business aimed at creating careers for many. This journey, rooted in lessons from a humble beginning, continues to shape my vision—to mentor, to build, and to leave a lasting impact on those around me. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬? We should always encourages girls to let their light shine bright, illuminating the way for others without ever dimming your own radiance. It's about creating those safe spaces where everyone's voice is not just heard but celebrated. It's in these spaces that challenges become conquerable puzzles, and solutions bloom from collective wisdom. So, let's ignite those sparks of inspiration and build a world where every light shines and empowers those around us! By joining us on April 4th, you will be able to hear this powerful conversation, network with other business and community leaders and join to advocate for more confidence-building opportunities for girls by supporting Girl Scouts. Co-Founder & CSO | FEBE Growth 100 Watchlist | Helping brands supercharge their eCom & fulfilment | Setting the precedent for the future of fulfilment.
Today is Day 1 of Year 3. 📅 Exactly two years ago, Trent Peek and I embarked on this thrilling We Are Fulfilment journey, driven by a vision and fuelled by a whole lot of passion (and perhaps a little naivety). 🚀Today, I want to share a heartfelt thank you to the exceptional partners and supporters who have walked alongside us, every step of the way. 📦 To our visionary partners & suppliers: You believed in our growth plans when they were just sketched on a napkin. You shared our vision, challenged our assumptions, and celebrated our victories with open arms. You are the reason we exist. Your trust, feedback, and unwavering support have been our drivers and an intrinsic part of our stories. 👏 To our dedicated team: You are the beating heart of this enterprise. The after-hours, tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and infectious enthusiasm have transformed ideas into reality. We wouldn't be here without your late nights, creative sparks, and unwavering dedication. 🗺️ This journey hasn't been without its twists and turns. But with each obstacle, we've emerged stronger, more resilient, and even more determined. The first two years are quite remarkable and the unforeseen moments you never planned for are those that will stay for us forever. We are incredibly grateful for the community we've built, and we're excited to see what the next chapter holds, together. #gratitude #community #partnership #businessanniversary #journey #fulfilment

The Yellow Fish turns 8 today!! Happy Birthday to Cohley. I'll give you 8 random thoughts / highlights that've popped into my head today as I've reflected back on our first 8 years doing this.... 1. The most rewarding part of the journey is doing it with great colleagues. Hat tip to my friend and co-founder Erik Graber, who's both the smartest and most relentless person I know. And thank you to Landon Sturm, who's the heart and soul of the company. 2. We may have quit after a year if we hadn't landed an agreement with Kohl's. Our champion on that deal was none other than our longest tenured and one of our most valuable employees, Jennifer Wang. 3. Happy customers create more customers, and our Customer Success function is nothing short of elite. Among the commitments that the CS team makes is that we visit our top customers in person, regardless of whether they're here in NYC or in rural Ohio. That, along with a million other small but important things, make that team special. (CC: Erin McCarthy) 4. Our early hires were either crazy or borderline masochists for agreeing to join a company of our size, lacking any sort of structure or formal training. They helped set the culture, got us up and running, and a handful of them are still with us years later. (CC: David Hughes). 5. We've been beyond lucky with our investors. After a F&F round, Dave Lambert at Right Side Capital Management has led or co-led every round we've done. Dave's been hugely influential and supportive from the beginning, and he took a chance on us when we didn't even know how to calculate MRR properly (embarrassing). In the last few years Pat Matthews at Active Capital has been another stabilizing, thoughtful, and encouraging voice in our board room. 6. The most important development in Cohley's 8 year history (so far) was identifying our ICP. I love SMBs, but a few years ago it became clear that our offering fit 100X better with consumer brands doing north of $10M/yr. Our cohort-specific data has gotten a lot more precise since that binary split was identified, but putting ourselves in a position to get net revenue retention to 100%+ is the reason we are where we are today. 7. We're nothing without our extensive community of Creators. Thanks to Michelle Green for being a strong advocate for the Creator, going out of her way to spend time and energy making sure that their UX is as simple and effective as it can be. 8. It took me a years to realize this, but going all-in on a startup requires sacrifice and support from the families of everyone involved. The days can be agonizing, and we're not the type of company that leaves their laptops at work. My wife Allison has been hugely supportive, playing out scenarios and thinking through tough situations with even after her long days working at a charter school while also taking care of baby Maggie. Thanks to everyone that's contributed to this special run, I couldn't fit everyone in here but you know who you are.

If you haven't heard yet...Milwaukee Founders Community is now Midwest Founders Community! What started as some simple founder-to-founder invitations to get together for coworking and happy hour back in the summer of 2021, and then quickly evolved into a founders only group chat, has now grown into somewhat of an accelerator/navigator for founders of all kinds. It's developed into operating on an informal "curriculum of community" that’s being simultaneously taught, learned, and tested by a conceptual classroom of entrepredoers. Like most startup/founder communities, MFC offers events (https://lnkd.in/gu5CAjbP). What’s special is that these events are created and hosted by the founders who see the value in the event and take it upon themselves to bring it into existence (with the community's support, of course). This approach to growth/operations has resulted in what I think is pretty close to regional PMF, in the sense that MFC’s lead curators are to the point of feeling more pull from those in the community than we are pushing what’s been built. It seems that founders are receiving the uniquely decentralized strategy a bit differently than the common community call-to-action to “get involved.” Several founders (and new MFC curators) have taken the call-to-action as not only an opportunity to get involved & help others, but perhaps more enticingly, as an opportunity to build something that gets them out of the day-to-day grind on their own company, if even for just a few hours a month. It’s why I think MFC’s event offering has grown significantly beyond the popular FOUNDER/FEST experience & now includes events to help founders: 💸 learn more about & connect with investors (#FounderFunderForum) 📈 learn more about & connect with customers (#SaaSClub) 🏕 disconnect from the grind to deeply connect with themselves & other founders (#MidwestFoundersRetreat) ♀feel safe & supported while navigating the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs (#LesFemmes) 💡 discuss, discover, workshop & test new product ideas (#ProductMarketRiff) 💻 build with AI-powered tech & tools in a casual, no pressure environment(#MilwaukeeGPT) 🗣 launch their startup idea with a formal, on-stage pitch for microgrant funds (#Launchpad) 🤓 learn from expert resource providers about nuanced aspects of the founder journey (#HowTo) -- Recordings are here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfnu5fG8 And there’s still more being built by founders who have answered the call to become MFC builders and lead curators! We’re super proud of the new brand, website, and event offerings, so we’d love for you to check it out, sign up for the free founder membership and get yourself to the events that fit your needs as a founder. Maybe I’ll see ya at this week’s Product/Market Riff or next week’s FOUNDER/FEST! #midwestfounders #founderscommunity #founders #startups #entrepreneurs #startupcommunity #midwest
We are so proud to announce the rollout of our new website and with it, our new name: Midwest Founders Community! We started as a community of Milwaukee-based founders looking to challenge the status quo and build the future. We’re still focused on that mission, but now, we’re opening ourselves up to new growth, welcoming founders from all over the Midwest! We’re so excited to expand our reach and see what is next on the horizon as we grow together as a community. Check out our updated website here: https://lnkd.in/gx-4t2K5
