At face value, this video might look like a passionate football manager reflecting on a game, questioning decisions made by match officials (referees, VAR etc). But, look a bit deeper - it is about the divide that exists between the East and West. It's that feeling of being an outsider because of where you live. People have a preconceived idea of who you are based on where you are from. And then there is the feeling of disenfranchisement, the reality is we don't have the same access to things as other areas do. Growing up in South West Sydney, I understand this feeling well. Whenever I'd go to a public speaking competition held at private schools in Sydney's east. When I went to Sydney University. Even at some of my previous jobs. The A-Leagues have an opportunity to shine a spotlight on all the beauty the west has to offer. As Marko Rudan articulated, our community is culturally diverse, passionate, ambitious - we add so much value to the country as a whole. Football can unite the community and can be the platform to exhibit the best of our community too. 👉 This means the way we talk about our communities in the media, how we call out language that is harmful, the standards we hold everyone too (no double standards) and make sure we have different perspectives at decision making tables. Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers are a beacon of hope for football loving kids in the west but also too an example of the kind of quality you can expect to find in our growing suburbs. (P.S. GO THE BULLS!!) https://lnkd.in/g3Rdss-h

Clyde Martin was a notable figure in the history of golf, particularly during a time when racial segregation was prevalent. In 1939, Clyde Martin achieved a groundbreaking milestone by being named the head professional at the segregated Langston Golf Course in Washington, D.C. At that time, Langston Golf Course served as a designated facility for African-American golfers due to the segregation policies of the era. Despite the challenges of racial segregation, Clyde Martin excelled in his role as head professional, showcasing his skills and expertise in the sport. His appointment at Langston Golf Course was a significant achievement, as it provided opportunities for African-American golfers to access quality instruction and facilities. Troon and its affiliates currently manages the Langston Golf Course, a National Links Trust facility. Established as a designated facility for African-American golfers, Langston became a symbol of progress and equality in the world of golf. It provided a platform for individuals to come together, share their passion for the sport, and contribute to the rich tapestry of the golfing community in the nation's capital. Langston Golf Course's commitment to openness and inclusivity made it a unique and vital institution. It not only offered a place for golf enthusiasts to hone their skills but also became a hub for community engagement and camaraderie. The course's history reflects a resilience against racial barriers, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among its diverse patrons. Why It Matters
Founder & Executive Director, Worldwide Group Travel & Events Creator & Executive Producer, Jamaica Fit Trip
I recently had the pleasure of meeting some incredible teens who are diving into the lobster industry under the mentorship of one of the owners of Luke's Lobster. In Maine, where all lobstermen operate as sole proprietors, these young individuals are acquiring a skill set that promises to serve them well throughout their lives. It’s inspiring to see the next generation gaining hands-on experience in such a vital and historic trade. Keep up the good work, @Ben from @lukeslobster! #blacktravelmaine

Another great local business story for County Wicklow. If you're wondering how the Local Enterprise Office can support your business, take a look at this article on their Trading Online Voucher Scheme https://lnkd.in/ebDAPp-T #localbusinesssuccess #Localenterpriseoffice #smallbusinesssuccess
It's been tough to keep this one under wraps, but I'm delighted to announce that Devin Toner, Ireland and Leinster rugby legend, has joined the O Brother Brewing tribe as an investor! 🌟🏉 Devin joins a small group of investors along with Local Enterprise Office Wicklow in supporting us on the next stage in our journey. In an economic climate where many businesses are sadly struggling, we feel incredibly fortunate to have such amazing backing as we dream bigger and gear up for even greater growth! Devin has spent his career battling on the front lines of professional sports, where teamwork, commitment, ambition, and belief are fundamental to raising the bar and achieving success. We are truly inspired to raise our own game and push ourselves even harder on the journey to grow O Brother Brewing, both here and abroad, and to create an authentic, connected experience at our new home in Belmont Demesne, that goes beyond just beer. So let's raise a glass to new adventures, to connection, determination, and making the dream a reality - together! 🥂✨ Big thanks to Fearghal O'Connor in the Sunday Independent for covering the story!
