Chroma 0197 - In Which You Are Not a Single Decision Do you ever feel like you're at an age where you have to commit to one path? Trust me, I've been there. I've walked down many roads in my life, each one leading to new experiences and insights. I used to fix PCs for friends and family. I went to the Singapore Polytechnic to become video game designer. I was conscripted by the Singapore Armed Forces for 3 Years. I owned a freelance design business. I sold stock images and 3D models. I collected thousands of tutorials. I built retro arcade machines. I was into gunpla. I taught Trunk Coms, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Arnold, Katana, Mental Ray & Nuke to hundreds of kids and adults. I taught 6 year olds to 60 year olds. I've done a bit of everything. And you will too. Never limit yourself by thinking you must follow one path in life or define your entire existence around a single decision. Life isn't about making one perfect choice and sticking to it no matter what. It's about adaptation and learning to navigate your surroundings and experiences. It's okay to try something and realize it's not for you. That's not a misstep; it's a step towards finding what truly resonates with you. It's a part of your journey. Trying everything you can will eventually show you that you can do anything. So, don't be afraid to explore. Try different things, learn from each experience, and adapt. Over time, you'll discover your true potential and the many paths that can lead to a fulfilling life. ๐ฌ#AlphaChromatica #Chroma #HeyGanz #PersonalBetterment

#3DCharacterย design is a crucial element in the world of gaming๐ฎ, and this has become the standard for modernย #videogames! From concept art, to 3D modeling, to putting cosmetics such as texturing and then sending the virtually static character for rigging & animation, ensures the final process adds thought, personality & emotion, bringing the character to life, through movement & expression. This is a complex & collaborative process that involves multiple professionals, including concept artists, modelers, texture artists, riggers, animators, and towards end the game developers. Combination of artisticย #creativityย with technical expertise to bring the virtual characters to life is something we are super proud of, inย 13Particles Studioยฎ!๐ช After all, these characters serve as the players' avatars or interactive entities within the game world, and their design, movement & expressions greatly influence the player'sย #engagementย &ย #emotionalconnectionย within theย #game.๐ฎ๐ป Do you want to see similar gaming characters whereย 13Particles Studioยฎย contributed to one of the project? Chroma 0127 - In Which You Might Be Better Off Going to School to Study VFX - Part 1 Accelerated Artistic Development When diving into the world of visual effects, you're stepping into a realm where photorealism is king. In a studio, every artist is on a quest to create images that are indistinguishable from reality. But here's the catch: while many can spot when CGI falls short, not everyone can pinpoint what needs fixing to enhance its believability. This is where the expertise of a good school comes into play. A seasoned instructor can dissect reality into understandable chunks, guiding you through the nuances that breathe life into your work. The journey to mastering photorealism is a marathon, not a sprint. It's about sharpening your observational skills, a process that can span years. I've observed students who rely heavily on online tutorials, attempting to mimic them step by step. They might follow a guide to create a CG car, meticulously adding lights and shaders, only to find the final render lacking that spark of authenticity. This is where a professional's approach diverges. They invest time in understanding how light interacts with surfaces, delving into the why's and how's of material reactions to light, leading to a deeper comprehension of the real world and its replication in the digital realm. So, if you're considering a path in VFX, think about the value an experienced instructor brings to the table. Someone who has honed their skills over the years, either in a school setting or in production, and is now eager to pass on that wealth of knowledge to you. The guidance of such a mentor will be a catalyst in your artistic journey, propelling you towards creating work that's not just good, but photoreal. * That's an old render of mine! Looks real, doesn't it? ๐ฌ#AlphaChromatica #Chroma #HeyGanz #GotoAGoodSchool

Motion Designers & VFX/Cinema people- take note: Unreal just got a lot more powerful for cinematic results with the release of 5.3! Iโve been diving back into Jonathan Winbush School of Motion course after hours this week, thereโs a lot of developments since 5.0 that you should know about. 1- Nanite landscapes- the level of detail this can create without having to rely on LOD cheats is simply Incredible. Creating realistic environments to navigate through just got a bit easier. 2- Character Tools- historically unreal has not been great for the pre-production aspects of 3D, but the new character tools have the ability to rig bones directly in UE. The new cloth editor also makes dressing your characters a lot easier too. 3- Lumen lighting engine- real time dynamic bounce lighting- aka Global Illumination. No more pre-rendered light maps or reflection captures now you can do it in real time. Compute intense, but massive potential for cinematic scenes. 4- Tesselation- remember that tutorial I did on using Bump nodes in Blender to create topography in your textures? You can do a similar thing in UE5.3, and then some. Think similar to using particles to create repeating patterns, and combining it with the โDisplacementโ input to generate depth. Wildly useful for environmental design. 5- It all works on Apple silicon ๐คฏ now you can stop arguing over which platform you prefer and go actually make stuff, regardless of which team youโre on. ๐๐ค๐ #motiondesigners #unrealengine #3danimation #3drenders

What does a game artist do? This is a popular question among individuals considering starting a project.ย Game creation is a time-consuming and expensive process. A complete product with substantial aesthetics can only be obtained by combining the efforts of specialists from multiple fields. Game artists play an important role inย the game development process. They are in charge of producing 2D or 3D art for visual aspects of video games. Characters, textures, colors, lighting, objects, and the environment are among the elements they work on.ย Although the field highly relies on digital art skills, traditional hand sketching is still an important skill for many tasks. A game artist is responsible for a wide range of tasks, which vary depending on the project. Their employment styles, such as working for a studio or freelancing, can also have an impact on their job as game artists. The following are the various categories of game artists: 2D artist & 3D artistย 3D MODELLER ANIMATION AND RIGGING ARTISTS PARTICLE EFFECTS ARTIST CONCEPT ARTIST ART DIRECTOR Though these are the several areas of a game artist, some exceptional artists in the industry can do it all on their own.
