The last Digital Health Wire article of 2023 outlines some interesting Digital Health Trends to expect in 2024. Coming from the more traditional provider space (Cleveland Clinic), it's great seeing technology advance areas we know to improve health (e.g., Food as Medicine). However, it’s clear from this that the healthcare landscape still needs to be more cohesive. We’ve seen several nutritional platforms expand to support a variety of conditions instead of focusing on one, such as diabetes. The government's approval of using state Medicaid dollars for food programs is helping the adoption and increased activity in this space. We know that nutritional counseling and access to healthy groceries improve health.  💡 Why is the policy just now catching up? Not surprisingly, value-based care has seen the most significant partnership growth. I love to see it! However, occasionally, I think back to the Michigan professors who first conceptualized the idea of V-BID in 2005. In undergrad and grad school this was a common topic of our courses. Nearly 20 years later, we’re seeing these concepts get used more than ever.  💡 Why did it take this long? In 2024, I’d like greater collaboration between health tech, legacy organizations, the government, and payors to do what we know works faster. Many of the problems in healthcare are very much solvable - much of the complexity comes from so many seats at the table, with few of them working together. Let’s change this in 2024!

State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE) data is a fundamental component of value-based care, driving improvements in quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
