A great session with Vistage UK Key Group looking at the different generations. Labels are incredibly useful as they can help short circuit our learning and understanding. Too often however, I believe that generational labels are used in a pejorative, detrimental way, issued as a judgement passed with an accompanying eye-roll. "They" are different, but so were you at that age and so you will be when you reach that age. The session today was about pealing back the layers and seeking to understand... understand how the different values exhibited by people of different ages influences why they act in the way they do. There is no "wrong" or "right" here. It just is, and by being curious and seeking to understand we can harness the benefits of each generation to make work better for everyone. #GenerationGame #Learning #Diversity #Understand #ImagineThinkDO

In 2022, B Lab Global embarked on our first JEDI Strategic Plan as an organization, set to run through the next three years. Halfway through our three-year process, Ellonda L. Williams, Ed.D., B Lab’s Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, shares an update on what we’ve learned. Successes such as strong leadership commitment and a systematic approach facilitating course correction has punctuated our work so far. However, she underscores the need to balance leadership ownership with staff inclusion for diverse perspectives and power distribution in decision-making in the year ahead. Exciting updates from the Acacia team! 🌟 We're thrilled to share that we just concluded two large strategy engagements—one with a national school network and another with a multi-billion dollar foundation. It's been an honor to collaborate with these visionary CEOs, and we'd love to highlight some takeaways from these projects. 1️⃣ Building culture through strategy: Organizations often build strategy at the top and think about culture change only in the roll-out of the plan. Instead, it can be much more powerful to use strategic planning itself as an opportunity to begin the change process. Thoughtfully engaging internal and external stakeholders can help not only create a shared vision, but also establish new norms and ways of working. 2️⃣ Amplifying impact through partnership: No organization operates in a vacuum. Organizations can increase their impact by identifying critical-path partners and integrating them into the planning process, whether through active coordination or simply a better understanding of where to play. In one client’s case, this meant convening counterparts across the city to map strategic priorities, allowing us to identify gaps for our client to focus on. 3️⃣ Going from strategy to execution: Shifting from strategy to execution is hard. Building initiative plans with the people who are leading the execution is an important step to enable a successful transition.
