Till now, great experience. One feedback - the system doesn't understand context much - it sometimes provide same set of references/ text for two different scenarios.
My wife is an influencer and has used it through her pregnancy journey to help with educating herself. We both use perplexity and love it. Never going back to Google.
Perplexity does not read the full upload anymore and it overrides some of the instructions to make the response more concise (less tokens)
Whenever I ask Perplexity something, it comes with some follow-up questions, most of which are relevant. However, the moment I click on one question, the other follow-up questions disappear. And, unfortunately, there is no way to view those follow-up questions again. This issue was brought to your notice earlier too, but to no avail. Also, there are some people who are facing the same issue and are having a discussion on this topic on Reddit. You should reach out to them on Reddit, where there is a Perplexity community. A lot of issues plaguing Perplexity's performance are being discussed there. Thanks!
1) The price of paid version is not region specific. 20$ a month for a end user is too high in countries like India. 2) Keeping a low price tag for Pro initially will help perplexity to get more and more paid users and the more serious data. Or.... increase the FREE pro search limit from one digit to two digits. 3) Attach/Add options like 'unified payment interface (upi)' for subscribers from India or EMI Option so that start up founders can use perplexity pro without need of huge upfront investment.
Perplexity is amazing in terms of giving structured details about some topic or product. I have used it to help me understand by breaking down many technologies or processes for product building and projects. However, I have come across this problem multiple times where I am asking it to give me step by step details to a certain work or process, it hallucinates. That is let's say there were 20 steps involved to break down a problem and if I keep prompting the tool to drill down more then at sometimes it produces continuous repetitions of those 20 steps and won't stop until i intervene. This is one problem I have faced more than 7 to 8 times. Haven't used it today though yet. Will try to check if the issue still persists.
I had high praise for it once, but it's been hit-and-miss since. I actually canceled my subscription just a few days ago. It feels like the quality of its responses has been declining sharply. It loses context more often than not, but more frustratingly, it lies and makes stuff up at an actually infuriating rate. The choice of AI model doesn't seem to matter all that much, it's always bad.
The free version of the AI assistant proves valuable for straightforward queries that don't demand complex analysis. It efficiently provides responses that align with basic user requirements, making it suitable for quick information retrieval and simple task assistance.
I love it. I often use it to find specific technical details for audio visual products when working on projects. Before, finding such details in large PDF manuals could be very time consuming. First you have to find the manuals, then try to find the specific section, then read until you find what you’re looking for, or not find it. Now I can ask my very specific questions about specific AV products and get answers instantly AND be provided with online references to verify the responses! I must have used it 25 different times today alone. My favorite office tool right now.
