The education transformation is underway. Khan Academy, founded by Sal Khan, is Microsoft's partner and is offering all K-12 educators in the US access to an AI-powered teaching assistant. “You have to encourage folks to use AI and give them space for failure,” Khan says. When Lumen Technologies was tasked with creating a website, brochure, and social media posts for a product within 40 minutes, they turned to Microsoft Copilot to spark quick creativity and launched the inaugural “Copilot Olympics.” This event tasked employees with using the AI-powered productivity tool to help with everything from creating images to developing product concepts, and has now expanded to an event across Lumen’s 250-person marketing department. “Copilot fit Lumen’s vision of digital transformation, supporting our company culture around growth, collaboration and customer obsession,” says Ryan Asdourian, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Beyond fostering team collaboration and a little workplace fun, the Copilot Olympics has motivated Lumen’s staff to use it more broadly turning it from a traditional telecom to a technology company.
