In July 2016, at Cheung Sha Beach on Lantau Island, Hong Kong, my son Ethan (then just over 3 years old) and I had such an encounter.   This experience was a moment of awakening for me. It profoundly changed my perspective on #SingleUsePlastic and #PlasticWaste. From that day forward, my family committed to avoiding single-use plastics. We adopted #reuse practices with our water bottles, utensils, and totes, and beach cleaning became an integral part of our beach outings.   To give the photos below some context, the sea turtle we found had its mouth stuck with plastic waste, fishing string, part of a straw, and a soda bottle cap ring. Realizing it was still alive, we urgently sought help. By a stroke of luck, there was an SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) van in the parking lot. We quickly carried the sea turtle and handed it over to the SPCA personnel.   That day left me with mixed emotions. While it felt great to have "saved" a sea turtle, it was heartbreaking to realize that its suffering was likely caused by #OceanPlasticWaste from humans. The horror of this realization outweighed the initial relief. This experience ignited a deep commitment within us to combat plastic pollution and promote ocean conservation.   #PlasticPollution #OceanConservation #SustainableLiving #BeachCleanUp
