Breaking news: FRENCH #cargo #airline #CMACGM #AirCargo is to begin a new #transpacific route – connecting #Asia to #NorthAmerica this summer – utilising its two new B777-200 freighters.     The launch of this “strategic #airfreight route” marks the acceleration of the 2021-founded carrier’s big expansion ambitions, according to a statement.    The first B777 freighter is scheduled for delivery in June and will serve Hong Kong, Chicago and Seoul, whilst the second – to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024 – will connect mainland China to North America. Flights will be operated by third-party #ACMI carrier Atlas Air.    Then, in the first quarter of 2025, CMA CGM #AirCargo will take delivery of a third B777-200F, the statement adds.    Currently, the freight #airline’s fleet comprises two B777Fs and three #A330Fs, based at the Paris Charles de Gaulle (#CdG) hub. China Southern Airlines orders 100 C919 Aircraft China Southern Airlines has placed an order for 100 Comac C919s, completing the trifecta of state-owned Chinese airlines committing to the domestically developed aircraft. China Southern follows Air China’s recent order, which was also for 100 C919s but in the Extended Range variant. Based on its Hong Kong stock exchange announcement, China Southern’s C919s will be acquired for $99 million per aircraft, the list price for the standard C919. They are to be delivered between the 2024-2031 timeframe. The orders from the “Big Three” and Surpana Airlines will bring the total firm orders for C919s to 330 units. Aviation Week

Turkish Cargo is gearing up for an impressive expansion of its freighter fleet over the next five to ten years. In addition to their ambitious passenger fleet plans, the carrier aims to grow their current fleet of 24 freighter aircraft to 40 in the next "five years plus." To support this expansion, Turkish Airlines is in the process of ordering 400 narrowbody and 200 widebody aircraft. In the short term, the airline may resort to wet lease, dry lease, and ACMI to meet freighter requirements. Ultimately, Turkish Cargo’s strategy will focus on new, owned widebody aircraft. Aimed at optimising cargo operations in line with growing volume alongside a well-coordinated improvement within the product portfolio. Should Boeing make the new #B777F with the #noseloading option? Boeing is of the opinion that the #noseloading option is not a particular favorite among various #freighters. For some airlines it is undoubtedly important but overall, it is a relatively small market for #outsizecargo that needs #noseloader. Qatar Airways Cargo claims that just 1-2% of the #cargo flown by the airline requires #noseloading. Besides, the Boeing 777 is a substantially large aircraft and there are plenty of aircraft with nose-loading capability in the market to satisfy demand over the coming years. There are around 140 #noseloading #B747-400s still in service with an average age of 20 years. These aircraft would be around for the next 10 years, as per Lufthansa Cargo. Boeing recently delivered over 105 #noseloading 747-8Fs with an average age of seven years that will take care of market needs for another two decades. Besides Airbus is also making the #A350Fs without the #noseloading option.
