This helps save time, gain scientific efficiency and valorise data. Raidium - Raidium have created an interactive AI platform which allows for access to imaging biomarkers. Allow for clinical research to be quicker which in turns helps healthcare and its patients. Xgenera - Through creating a strong diagnostic test (which works at every cancer stage), Xgenera are able to detect cancer quicker and the quicker its detected, the more treatable it is. Kaleidoscope.bio - Helping R&D teams by providing more clarity to their data which in turn helps deliver's outcomes faster and more efficiently. It also keeps key stakeholders keep up to date with the progress of any given project. If there is one word that connects all these Start-ups, its efficiency. The Boston startup is built on work out of CRISPR pioneer Feng Zhang and the University of Utah’s Jason Shepherd, and it had reeled in some of the biggest biotech venture backers like ARCH and GV. The layoffs come the same day another Zhang startup was publicly launched with $57 million for epigenetic biotech Moonwalk Biosciences. Akin Akinc At the time of Aera’s unveiling in February, CEO Akin Akinc told Endpoints the startup had 50 employees and would add about 30 employees by the end of 2023. An updated figure wasn’t immediately provided. Thursday’s cuts were first reported by STAT News, and the outlet said the layoffs impacted “a portion of the company dedicated to developing new gene-editing enzymes.” Job reductions have hit the biotech industry left and right, with 2023 being one of the worst years in recent memory for drug developers as they faced a grueling financing environment. The gene editing field hasn’t been spared, with workforce reductions happening at ReNAgade Therapeutics and Intellia Therapeutics, one of the early CRISPR startups that announced a 15% layoff on Thursday. Others, like David Liu-founded Resonance Medicine, have shuttered. Aera is trying to expand the delivery of genetic medicines beyond the liver and other tissues targeted by the first generation of the gene editing field, broaden the diseases they can treat and upend how they’re shuttled through the body. It’s working on a virus-like delivery method and hopes to go into the brain, kidneys, lungs, and other areas, Akinc previously told Endpoints. At an early stage, Aera was still considering a bevy of routes, whether that be antisense oligonucleotides, siRNAs, mRNA, gene therapy or gene editing “in all its various forms,” Akinc, the CEO, had said. #lucidquest #genetherapy #celltherapy

A primer on how docking and virtual screening are used in drug discovery. Once you have a biological target and an idea of how you want to modify that target, the next step is often to find a molecule that hits that target as a starting point for a drug. Docking and virtual screening allow you to model the interaction between molecules and targets computationally, filtering billions of options to an amount testable in lab.
