How do you farm without land? It's called hydroponics. Earlier this year, we worked closely with Tapestry Farms to install a small hydroponic farm, housed in a 320-square-foot shipping container, in one of our Midwest neighborhoods. The goal of the urban farm is to cater to local refugee families who struggle to access fresh food year-round. The produce will also support our local food bank. Ann McGlynn, executive director of Tapestry Farms, said, “This container will give our organization the opportunity to double, or possibly triple, the amount of produce we can grow each year.” See the farm come to life: http://spr.ly/6047gYA8B

A great solution plan for urban food supply. Do you have any publications about the performance of yield, energy and water consumption in this project? I want to know more about it. 😊

Proposal: Sustainable Integration of Hydroponics and Data Centers Propose setting up hydroponics systems near data centers to create a mutually beneficial and sustainable environment. This integration leverages multiple renewable energy sources and innovative technologies to achieve optimal efficiency and environmental impact. Key Components: 1. **Geothermal Energy:** - Utilize geothermal energy to access underground water. - Use this water for both cooling the data centers and irrigating the hydroponics systems. 2. Heat Repurposing: Redirect the heat generated by the data centers to support plant growth in the hydroponics systems. 3. Solar and Wind Energy: Incorporate solar panels and wind turbines to provide renewable energy for both the data centers and the hydroponics systems. - Ensure a sustainable and self-sufficient energy supply for the entire setup. Benefits: Energy Efficiency: Reducing the energy required for cooling data centers by utilizing geothermal water. Sustainable Agriculture: Providing a controlled environment for plant growth using excess heat and renewable energy. Environmental Impact: Minimizing carbon footprint through the use of renewable energy sources. Cutty

It's cool to see some of the brand extensions the Deere teams have executed all stemming from the global We Run For All brand campaign I helped bring to life while in my previous role. https://michaeleatoncreative.com/we-run-for-all-john-deere-brand-campaign

Love this innovative project with Tapestry Farms! Hydroponic farming in a shipping container is a fantastic way to bring fresh produce to local refugee families and food banks.

Wow, hydroponics in a shipping container? Talk about thinking outside the box... or should I say, inside the box! 🌱📦 Kudos to Tapestry Farms for turning a small space into a big impact for the community!
