This deficiency is increasingly prevalent among adults and children in the UK, impacting bone health and potentially our mood. Certain groups, such as older adults, individuals who spend more time indoors, young children, those with extensive skin coverage, and individuals with darker skin tones, are at higher risk. Due to the challenges of obtaining sufficient Vitamin D through diet alone, the Department of Health now recommends a daily 10 mg Vitamin D supplement for all adults and children over one year old, especially during autumn and winter. Let me let you in on a little secret about athletes – we're not all about the relentless grind, 24/7. Sure, we work hard, but we also know how to kick back and enjoy life. It's just that we're experts at doing it in a structured and disciplined way. We used to think that you expected us to be all work and no play, so we mostly showed you that side. But thanks to the magic of social media, we've been able to peel back the curtain a bit and show you what goes on behind the scenes. Here's the thing – you can learn a lot from us. We've learned the importance of hitting the brakes when life gets too hectic. We've realized that sometimes you need to step away from the daily hustle and create space for yourself. Whether that's hitting the gym, hanging out with friends, or indulging in your hobbies, finding a place to unwind is vital. We're fortunate because we've had it drilled into us to take care of ourselves. We know when it's time to let loose and have fun and when it's time to get back to business. We call it "It's time to go to work." The picture is a throwback from the Beijing 2008 Paralympics after-party. It was a time when the shackles were off, and we could let loose. But we always knew that after the party, it was back to chasing our dreams and pushing our limits. So, remember, life is a balance. Work hard, play hard, and enjoy every moment. Because when you find that equilibrium, you're not just living – you're thriving.
