I am so honored to be joining these esteemed experts at the Gifted Symposium held Saturday, March 23, 2004 at the Long Island School for the Gifted. All of us owe so much to the person and work of Dr. Joseph Renzulli, the keynote speaker. I will be presenting the 10:50 am session "We Can Teach Tomorrow’s Innovators Today." How important are skills like creativity, logical reasoning, persistence, metacognition, problem-solving, and leadership to our children’s future success? Very important! What if we could teach and assess these aptitudes, right in the context of our current curriculum? We can, when we use a talent-targeted approach that transforms short-term content goals into future directed, purpose-driven “talent goals.”
