Interesting piece Bloomberg Green on how Extinction Rebellion's pivot from "public disruption as a primary tactic” to focus on mass mobilisation has seen them gain more followers, become credible as a cause-related movement, and even increase financial donations. Why did they change? First, they understood that the audience they need to get onside don't want to be associated with what is considered an unruly element. Their allegiances to any form of movement is their social currency - a reflection of them as an individual and what they believe in and care about. And second is what the piece cites as "the 3.5% rule." This evidenced-based approach suggests that "nonviolent protests engaging around 3.5% of the population have historically been able to effect change." They wanted change. Change wasn't happening. So, THEY adapted their approach and it looks like it's working. Like any business, you need to look at your target audience and think about what THEY want and need and not what you THINK they want and need. Pivoting is hard, sometimes painful. But the focus must always be firmly fixed on the ultimate vision that you have. https://lnkd.in/e6WQ2ewj https://lnkd.in/e6WQ2ewj

What an inspirational and motivational interview with Tom Dawson Revolution-ZERO I can take so much from this and apply it to my own circular economy goals. ·The displacement of single use, non-recyclable, non-biodegradable filters in air scrubbers to be replaced with a circular economy zero waste solution. · To overcome the resistance and unethical business practices from organisations who want want block zero waste innovations so as to protect their recurring revenue from single use consumables which at the end of a short service life will end up in landfill, cause pollution and a burden on our environment. · Go where you’re valued, do what you do well, be resilient never give up. Do the research, believe in what you do, do it for the right reasons and you will achieve your goals. · To quote lyrics from an 1980’s Irish rock band song “To Win Just Once” To race with speed along the track, break the tape and not look back, To never have considered loosing, As if to win is by your choosing, Bare your sole for all to find, An honest heart and an open mind………… #netzero #sustainability #circulareconomy #reducewaste #reuse #recycle #airquality #indoorairquality #infectionprevention #infectioncontrol #nhs #healthcareinnovation #cleanairsolutions #carehomes #hospitals
