The majority, 53.66%, said it depends on the design, suggesting that while the material is important, the style must also be right. With the launch of the H&M X Rabanne collection, let's talk about something that's been on my mind – high street and designer collaborations. While they often promise the allure of luxury at an affordable price, there are a few aspects that make me wary. One of the major drawbacks is the compromise on quality. These collaborations are often churned out by the same factories that produce fast fashion, leading to little quality assurance behind each item. Let's be honest, the success of these collaborations is often solely due to the name a luxury brand brings to the table. It's the label that sells, not necessarily the quality or uniqueness of each piece.   Yesterday, during a quick visit to H&M in Copenhagen, I had a look at the H&M X Rabanne collection and I couldn't help but leave with a sense of disappointment, as expected. During my visit to H&M, it was striking to see not just myself, but two others, examining the same item for a particular reason – it was poorly made with a 100% polyester composition (albeit recycled polyester), yet flaunting an expensive price tag thanks to the designer name. While not every piece in the collection is a polyester disaster, there are definite issues. I spotted a mohair jumper that had molted all over the trousers next to it. Sure, mohair has its shedding tendencies, but the reality is that some purchasers will end up stashing this jumper away, never to be worn due to the shedding – a one-way ticket to the landfill. It's time we consider the true cost of these collaborations – not just the price on the tag but the environmental and ethical price as well.
