Looks like the job I interviewed for a few weeks ago is going to ghost me! I wish I had started tracking the number of times I've been ghosted since beginning my job search. It must be well over a hundred instances where I've reached out to someone and never received a reply or update. However, I'm not here to complain. Complaining rarely solves a problem, and I'm a problem solver. I tackle challenges head-on, and my current challenge is finding full-time work. I'm trying various strategies to find a solution to this problem (if you have any tips or leads please share). If one approach doesn’t yield results, I'm ready to pivot and try something else. Are you looking for someone who can: 1. Dive deep into market trends and create a detailed go-to-market strategy? - At Macy's, I used consumer insight platforms to develop new products and expand categories. For Harris and Harris, I conducted focus groups and interviews to gather insights and guide the strategic direction of one of their portfolio companies. 2. Build your brand or lead your rebrand? - I have successfully led brand building and rebranding initiatives, creating cohesive and compelling brand identities that resonate with target audiences and drive engagement. 3. Boost your social media numbers? - I have a track record of building communities from the ground up and boosting follower engagement at three different companies through a mix of paid and organic advertising. 4. Manage your photo or video production? - I’ve led production projects for Dove, Willa, The Carlyle, and others, overseeing talent hiring, location scouting, creative direction, budgeting, and execution. 5. Run your content on Squarespace? - I use Squarespace daily for my personal site (jonformont.com) and have managed content for several clients as a freelancer. I use the analytics from Google and Squarespace to make adjustments in my strategy and try to make a more engaging experience for visitors. I thrive on tackling challenges, a trait that I'm confident anyone I've worked with can attest to. As I actively pursue opportunities aligned with my passions and expertise, I bring a versatile skill set and adaptability to the table, ensuring success in a range of environments. Orlando love fest post ahead: When I arrived in 2014, I was here to further my #journalism career with the Tribune Company, intending to eventually get back to the Chicago area, which is where I'm from and where the company is based. Instead, I ended up digging the region and sticking around for several reasons. One was the potential I saw here in Orlando's tech community. From a journalist's perspective, it was the opportunity to tell some interesting stories about cool industries that were either here or emerging. However, from a cultural perspective, there were just so many fun things to do around here and I saw potential in the community. No, it wasn't a formal thing. Merely a gut feeling that some good things were going to happen. This weekend, perhaps, was one of those weekends where I can say, "Damn, I was more right than I even expected to be." Part of my underlying thoughts that this could be special here was that we already had a base, even if it wasn't local. Just the fact that major trade shows in so many industries came here was a feather in our cap from word "Go." All it took was adding a little here and a little there, or that was my thought, anyway. Consider that thought confirmed. From a #nerd paradise at #MegaConOrlando to the #marathontrials through the familiar streets of downtown Orlando (seriously, the finish line was right where we walk to go hang out at 302 Interactive's Joybreak events) and then to the National Football League (NFL)'s #ProBowl. This was a crazy-hectic weekend to be in Orlando and it reinforced what I've come around to: This is the right place to be for me. I love nerdy things and football and all #sports. This post can't be made without giving kudos to Greater Orlando Sports Commission and Jason Siegel, the folks at Megacon along with all those at City of Orlando and Orange County Government who contributed to luring these great events in a 4-day period. Of course, having the Orange County Convention Center here also made this possible. This region is a #content creator's dream, frankly. Yes, Orlando Tech News focuses on the #tech industry from a primarily #business angle but it's good to know there are many other avenues it could take down the road.

Great storytellers don’t avoid nuance, they dive into it. Vox Media consistently exemplifies that, and “Language, Please” is yet another example of them scaling the fluff trap that often surrounds a hot button topic to create something thoughtful (and thought provoking) about the benefits in doing DEI right, the pitfalls in doing it wrong, and the way to know the difference. I’m really proud for the Circus to have provided the research and insights for this release. The story that came out of the study we designed was nuanced, interesting, and fortunately, didn’t get washed out of the final guide. In fact, that it played such a foundational role in the guide is truly gratifying. Original thought leadership research gives companies and brands the opportunity (and authority) to say something original and interesting in their space. That type of research is our specialty.
