When I’m hiring BDMs to help me grow my private lending business, I look for 3 key qualities. I don’t look for technical skill. I don’t look at how they interpret numbers. I don’t even care if they’ve had any experience in sales whatsoever. I look for: 1. Honesty, 2. A willingness to learn, and 3. An ability to connect with people, I can’t teach those 3 things. If a BDM doesn’t have this, then there’s not much more I can do.
