Elevating Careers in Gaming | Global Learning and Development Manager 🚀 | Creating Impact through Learning and Growth 🌱
As International Women's Day approaches, we at Cloud Imperium Games are proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible women shaping the gaming industry. From our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to our collaborative teams, we're dedicated to championing diversity and inclusivity. Through ARK, our Thrive platform, we empower our teams with resources, events, and valuable insights, driving positive change in the gaming landscape. It's about fostering a culture where every voice is heard and every talent is valued. As a father of two amazing girls, this cause is deeply personal to me. I want them to see that the gaming industry welcomes them not just after they finish their education, but right from the start. It's about creating opportunities at the grassroots level and inspiring the next generation of female gamers and industry leaders. Did you know that women make up 48% of players worldwide, yet only 30% currently work in games? While this marks an 8% rise since 2014, there's still much more work to be done. Let's do our part to make a difference. #WomenInGames #InternationalWomensDay #DiversityInGaming #GamingIndustry #Empowerment

🌟 An open letter to women in gaming 🌟 "Dear fellow gaming industry women, Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we come together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women globally, particularly in the gaming industry. It's a day to honor our strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the gaming space. It is a privilege to work alongside incredibly talented women who are shaping the future of our industry. As we reflect on our journeys today, let us remember the importance of finding balance. We often face challenges and obstacles that may seem insurmountable, but remember, every hardship is an opportunity for growth and learning. We should trust more in our abilities, never be afraid to take risks and pursue our dreams. Sometimes, the most significant accomplishments come from pushing through the toughest times and staying true to ourselves. Today, we celebrate not only individual achievements but also the broader impact of women's empowerment. Inspirational leaders like Sue Schneider - SBC; Kelly Kehn - All-in Diversity Project; Helen Walton - G Games; Lauren Bates – Global Gaming Women President, who are championing women and facilitating our advancement in gaming through OUR global community of women in gaming. As we continue to advocate for change and support one another on our path to success, we can create a more diverse and equitable gaming community where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves. On this International Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a successful future for women in gaming. Together, we can break down barriers and pave the way for future generations of females and industry professionals. Above all, remember that your uniqueness is your strength." In the dynamic realm of Web3, a mere 13% of startups are founded by women, and a mere 3% boast an all-female team. It's high time we acknowledge this gender gap and champion diversity in the tech sector! 💼 Diverse teams bring a wealth of fresh perspectives, creativity, and innovation, fortifying the industry's core. Let's take a moment to celebrate the remarkable women leaving their indelible mark on the Web3 landscape and inspire others to join this exhilarating journey! At Web3 Sanctuary, we take pride in our 66% female team, a testament to our CEO Devon Krantz’s visionary leadership. This positions us to gain unique insights into the underrepresentation of women in Web3 and its ramifications for the industry. 🙌 Tag an inspiring female founder or team member you admire and share your insights on how we can foster inclusivity in the tech world. Action is being a catalyst. Action is taking little steps to help elevate just one women. Action is helping her get her voice heard or more pay or a promotion. I got to attend the Celebrating Women in Games Panel with these amazing industry leaders: Marie Benigno Ablaza, SHRM-TA, Netflix Susan Cummings 🔜GDC / Pocket Gamer SF, Tiny Rebel Games Christina Seelye, Maximum Entertainment Joanie Kraut 📍GDC, Women in Games International (WIGI) My main takeaways: 💡DEIB looks different at different company sizes. When you grow or have an acquisition it can get challenging. 💡 Seeing the evolution of sourcing diverse teams is extending beyond just the recruitment team. It’s becoming company wide. 💡 How do we amplify and help each other inside the company and outside. 💡 Don’t be afraid of being in over your head - you’ll figure it out. 💡If things fail, change the strategy not the goal! 💡 Even when you’re at the top, a CEO or a board member, it’s common to still combat imposter syndrome. Learn how to combat it early. 💡Cheat code: It’s going to be harder than you think so celebrate your wins! 🎉 Plus, I was happy to have got to meet Grace Zhou 🔜 GDC in person on day 1 of GDC. She created an amazing list of GDC side events so check it out if you haven’t already. ✨Celebrate yourself and take up the space you deserve. The panelist each shared something they were proud of: - Going for the valuation your company deserves and raising $10M instead of a convertible note - Sitting on this panel and combating imposter syndrome to be here today - Having an all female protagonist line up in upcoming games 💬 Share a win you’ve had that you’re proud of in the comments! Nothing is too small or to big. #GDC #MobileGames #WomeninGaming
