To riff on this insightful post, one of the conclusions in the linked article is that as renewables mature and cross a threshold of penetration where new projects are hard to permit, nuclear energy becomes an attractive (if not necessary) option. Of course, all technologies have permitting problems. Carbon capture needs pipelines and pore space; nuclear has some permitting challenges of its own. But the land problem is rather smaller for nuclear than a GW-scale renewable project. 👍 ⚛

👋 Happy Wednesday everyone! We're back for a special Wednesday edition of Machine Readable, and for our 4th of July special we're sharing some insights from another fascinating information source our platform uncovered: ERCOT's 2024 Long-Term System Assessment (LTSA): High Load Growth and Environmental Regulations Scenario. ⚡ Now, these types of forecasts are fairly standard amongst regional #transmission operators, but what sets this one apart is just how massively different the estimated system peaks and troughs are for Texas' grid in the not-too-distant future. Read on for Nat Bullard's examination of these projections and for our take on how #AI can help surface and digest data that's hard to find and even harder to read 🔎 https://lnkd.in/gsTsQ57p
