It's finally here!! 🤗 📗
Behind the excitement of this release, our first book that we have been working on and waiting for so long, it's also time to step back and reflect on this authoring journey:
It’s been a long journey, but I enjoyed every second of it with you, Yazid Akadiri. It requires a lot of dedication to overcome countless difficulties of writing a book. However, the most important thing is to have a traveling companion like you and to maintain mutual trust. We made it, and thank you!! 🙏 🙏
I also feel extremely privileged and grateful for all the support that we have received from day one on this project from so many Elasticians, especially the South EMEA solutions architect team and the EMEA customer architects team. Specials thanks to Nick Drost, Bahaaldine A., and Yannick Fhima, PhD for your guidance and your trust in us!
Evelien Schellekens, you are our hero. You may not realize the important role you have played: your genuine feedback while we were still writing the first chapter gave us so much confidence. And we continued this collaboration with the feedback loop until the very last recipes. That's why I want to say: we made it together! ❤️ ❤️
And, of course, thanks to Giuseppe Santoro 🚢 for your help during the final stage reviews, it was invaluable!
Lastly, thanks again to the entire Packt team: Deepesh Patel, Tazeen Shaikh, Aparna Nair, Kirti Pisat. It was a wonderful experience that we would not hesitate to renew! 🚀 🚀
To finish, I’d like to share some personal lessons I’ve learned:
1. Don't wait too long to start writing.
2. The most difficult parts begin when we think that 80% of the job is done.
3. Writing a book is all about sharing knowledge, but surprisingly, there is no better learning process than authoring.
4. Be humble and be ambitious (my favorite Elastic source code quote that helped me so much).

Is Elasticsearch a real-time system? 🤔 Let's dispel some myths!
Yes, Elasticsearch does offer real-time search and analytics, helping you sift through tons of data in no time.🔍📊
Although it may not be 'real-time' per computer science lingo - where actions occur in a firm, predictable timeframe, it's pretty close!
With near real-time search, you'll experience a tiny delay (typically a second) from when data is indexed to when it becomes searchable.🕑
But in the grand scheme of things, this one-second pause is often overlooked.
For many applications, this barely-noticeable delay doesn't hold back Elasticsearch from being a real-time system.
Bottom line: Don't let the myth fool you, Elasticsearch is as real-time as it gets!💡

This morning, Snowflake broke the AI ice with an enterprise-grade LLM called Snowflake Arctic. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Arctic is top-tier in enterprise benchmarks like SQL generation, coding, and instruction following (you can see how it stacks up to other leading LLMs below).
2. It has best-in-class performance/cost ratio in both training and inference.
3. It’s open source and you can use it in multiple ways, including with Snowflake Cortex.
But the best part of this launch comes from something researchers know all too well: code and weights are only two pieces of the puzzle — there’s a lot of tacit knowledge in people’s heads.
Thankfully, Snowflake is sharing their research insights in a “cookbook.” Get the cookbook and try Snowflake Arctic out at the link in the comments!

Moving up from a minimalistic text search engine to Elasticsearch at #llmzoomcamp! In this module, I learned about the robust capabilities of Elasticsearch, which allows us to perform complex searches across multiple fields in our data using various query types like `best_fields`, `most_fields`, and `phrase`.
Elasticsearch enhances our ability to retrieve more relevant and precise answers by effectively indexing and searching large datasets. The flexibility in query handling and the precision it offers make it a superior choice for complex retrieval tasks.
I'm excited to integrate Elasticsearch into our projects, enabling faster and more accurate search functionalities. The transition from a basic search engine to an advanced tool like Elasticsearch is a significant step forward in handling real-world data challenges.
Stay tuned for more insights from my journey with #llmzoomcamp!
