This is a smart idea. While it's important to focus on recruiting and training prospective students and workers, it's also necessary to provide incentives for businesses to take on these apprenticeships. #Health #Healthcare #HealthWorkers

5th -11 February is National Apprenticeship Week! We have been catching up with some colleagues who are currently on PWDS apprenticeship programmes. Lauren, who a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) spoke with us about her experience: Why did you choose to do a pharmacy technician apprenticeship? “I have a passion for helping and caring for others. I was eager to shift my career path and embrace new learning opportunities. The apprenticeship appealed to me as it allows me to work and study, providing a practical, hands-on approach to learning” What’s the best thing about doing an apprenticeship? “The blend of practical experience and academic learning it offers, gaining hands-on experience while also studying and acquiring theoretical knowledge. This combination helps you understand the practical applications of your studies and equips you with the skills needed in the real world” What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship? “Understand the apprenticeship course: including the balance between work and study days. Ask Questions: don’t hesitate to inquire about any aspects of the apprenticeship that you’re unsure about. The more information you have, the better equipped you’ll be to succeed. Establish a strong support network: friends, family, or mentors who can provide advice, encouragement, and understanding during your apprenticeship”
