Today is my last day at Waterloo Brewing (Carlsberg Canada) 🍻
The emotions that come with leaving a job you’ve been at for a while is something that I don’t think is talked about enough. Choosing to leave this place that I’ve called home for the past three years was one of the most incredibly challenging decisions I’ve ever made. Choosing to leave the beer industry entirely after five years was even more gruelling. Stepping into something new comes with a lot of anxiety and uncertainty, but it also comes with a lot of excitement for the future.
In my three years with Waterloo, one of those being the post-Carlsberg acquisition, I’m super proud to say that I contributed to these feats 🎉
- Launching Laker Beer on Instagram in 2021
- Launching LandSharkPup on Instagram in 2021
- Rebranding Seagram’s social presence not once…but twice
- Navigating the digital comms for constant closures and re-openings of the Waterloo Brewing Taphouse during COVID
- Launching Garage Canada on social in 2023
- Migrating Carlsberg Canada, 1664 Canada and Somersby Canada from agency social media management to in house management at the beginning of this year
- Contributing to the creation of four (!!) new websites
- Countless product launches…seriously, countless
- Travelling to France to represent Carlsberg Canada for a brand activation in the Alps!!
- The rise, and fall, of LandShark Seltzer, one of my favourite products we ever made
- Getting way more comfortable handling a DSLR and editing photos
- Challenging myself to learn more video skills, they still ain’t great, but they also ain’t too bad
- Being trusted to write press releases about major events, including Carlsberg Canada’s new OHL partnership!
- Supporting Oktoberfest for three years, one of my favourite KW events 🥨
The list goes on and on, and while career wise, I know more incredible opportunities lie ahead, what I will look back on are the personal relationships I made at this company.
I owe so much to Colin Duerrstein, Breen Splitt, Alexandra Moore — my fearless and ambitious Digital Team. You three are the best. Thanks for riding this wave with me. And to Kim Mannerow too, thanks for agreeing to hire me even though my laptop broke at the beginning of our virtual interview 😂 I still owe you a beer for that!

1moWhat a fantastic way to build team spirit and have fun! The 'Pizza-Lympics' sounds like a blast, and it's great to see the support team enjoying themselves. Kudos to the Social Squad for organizing such a memorable event! 🍕👏
