Move United, Leadership and Board, You may want to re-evaluate your Board of Directors as you are failing the disabled population you are supposed to be serving. "Only 7% of DEI companies/non-profits have a board director who openly identifies as disabled, and only 7% mention disability in their board nomination documents. Another 7% plan to include disability in their nomination charters within the next year. In June 2023, Disability and the Thomson Reuters Foundation published a legal brief highlighting the lack of board-level disability disclosures and urged the private sector to track disability inclusion in corporate governance to promote regulatory disclosures for board diversity." - Disability Index 2023. Move United, you may also want to employ a director who is not able-bodied and comes with no record of disability empathy, awareness, or education on their resume.

Participate tons your 1st year, ✅ ask questions ✅ bring friends ✅ have fun! Volunteer for a leadership role your 2nd year 🚀 Grow the club Get a table at a popular building on campus and hand out flyers. Network by inviting guest speakers. 🚀 Aim high! I’ve never had someone turn down an invitation to speak to my sports business club. While internships can be a fun way to break into a new industry, they're also a springboard to potential full-time opportunities. That's why giving your all from the start is essential. Taking some proactive steps beforehand can make a big difference. Here's what I'm doing to prepare for my internship in the spectator sports industry: 1. Research Industry Trends: Dive deep into the current challenges facing your industry. Read industry publications and reports to identify common pain points. For example, in spectator sports, I'm looking into fan engagement strategies and trends. 2. Understand Your Target Audience: Unleash your inner investigator! Learn everything you can about the people you'll be designing for. What are their needs, wants, and frustrations? In my case, I'm studying fan demographics and how they consume sports content. 3. Align with the Company Culture: A company's values are its guiding light. Familiarize yourself with the organization's mission and purpose. This will help you tailor your contributions to their goals. I'm researching the core values of leading sports organizations to get a sense of their priorities. By taking these steps, you'll be well on your way to becoming a valuable asset to your internship team from day one.
