I am delighted to be part of the CII Annual Business Summit 2024 in New Delhi. Notable dignitaries, including Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, Dr. S Jaishankar, Mr. Amitabh Kant and many other notable political and bureaucratic leadership were present during this summit. Discussions revolved around the imperative of forging strong public-private partnerships to accomplish India's transformation into a developed nation by 2047. Other key highlights of the event include; - Government initiatives in solar energy, green hydrogen, and green ammonia are poised to generate substantial employment opportunities for the youth while fostering sustainability. - The government's focus on enhancing manufacturing competitiveness, integrating into the global value chain, and supporting initiatives like Make in India has bolstered growth, reforms, governance, and digitization over the past decade. Challenges in digital advancements, data privacy, and AI adoption present opportunities for India to integrate into global supply chains. - The vision for the next 25 years, Viksit Bharat, centers on manufacturing enhancement, addressing employment and technology gaps, and leveraging international partnerships for sustained stability. - Concerns about AI-induced job losses are being mitigated through a large pool of skilled engineers and retraining efforts. The government aims to make GPU resources accessible through funding mechanisms and create compute infrastructure under the India AI and National Supercomputing missions. - To penetrate global markets, Indian companies must prioritize global thinking and focus on quality. Collaboration between the government and states is crucial in promoting the growth of champion states at a rate of 10–11% per year, as India has transitioned from a fragile five to a top-five economy, achieving a growth rate of 8.4% in the last three quarters. Recent research highlights that India will surpass Germany and Japan by 2027, contributing around 30% of global GDP growth between 2035 and 2040. While larger corporations have quickly embraced Industry 4.0, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been slower to adopt it due to perceived barriers, such as implementation costs and resource constraints. Under the leadership of Neeraj Singhal, Indian Industries Association - IIA plays a vital role in helping SMEs in all possible ways to get benefitted from Industry 4.0 revolution. I recently had the privilege of attending the CII Northern Region Council Meeting. It was an enriching two-day event that brought together government dignitaries, industry captains, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and thought leaders. We engaged in insightful discussions on crucial topics. Strengthening industry-academia collaboration to bridge skill gaps and nurture a future-ready workforce was a key focus area. We also explored advanced manufacturing technologies, policy frameworks to boost the manufacturing sector's competitiveness, and evolving HR strategies for attracting and retaining top talent. Notably, we exchanged ideas on promoting women's participation and empowerment across various sectors, addressing barriers and creating more opportunities for their professional advancement. Overall, the event provided a valuable platform to gain insights, exchange best practices, and collaborate on strategies to drive progress across multiple domains, including academia-industry connect, advanced manufacturing, HR trends, and women's participation in the workforce. I look forward to attending more CII events in different regions in the near future. CII Northern Region Confederation of Indian Industry #CII4NR
