When facilitating discussions with a manager and employee that relate to the final interview/offer, onboarding, promotion, job rotations, one question that I have come to realize is helpful and important for all involved: What will their success look like at the end of year one and how will it be measured?

Facing challenges with counter offers or potential loss of new starters during their notice periods? In a highly competitive market, a pre-boarding retention plan can be your key to securing top talent. 🎯 Attract: Align your attraction and interview processes not just with skills, but with behaviors rooted in your culture and values. Let your future hires see, feel, and connect with what makes your workplace unique. 🚀 Prepare: Get ready for new starters with a well-structured induction and onboarding journey. Share their induction roadmap before day one, ensuring a smooth transition into their new role. 🤝 Engage: Stay connected and ease notice period worries with a dedicated newsletter or pre-starter share point providing key information. Invite them for a team lunch or to attend a meeting before they officially join. Keep the excitement alive and reassure your future joiner they've made the right choice! 🔄 Orient: Introduce a buddy or mentor for new starters, allowing them to connect before day one. This not only eases their transition but also creates a supportive community with development opportunities for both newcomers and existing team members. It may also begin a reverse mentoring journey! #retentionstrategies #newstarters #careermoves #mytalentpartner

Human Resources Manager | HR Consultant | Blogger at HR Power by Rachel LLB, CHRM, PCIR... yes, I am a lawyer in HR and I love it! :)
Happy Tuesday!!! New hires outthere: 🔹️ The orientation session is where you get first hand info on the Company's policies and procedures, this is also an excellent opportunity to ask your questions. Note a few facts below: ✅️ Once you go trough Orientation and you receive copies of the various policies you will be held accountable. Arguing that you did not pay attention and/or did not read the policy will not release you from your responsibility ✅️ Companies literally give you the does and don'ts during orientation, pay attention as this info might come in hand in the future. ✅️ Asking questions about things that were discussed in Orientation months after makes you look unprofessional. Exhaust all your questions during Orientation or reach out to HR shortly after if you need more info on a particular topic.
