Special Category Status (#SCS) in #India is a special designation granted by the central government to certain states based on specific criteria. This status allows these states to receive preferential treatment in terms of financial assistance, resource allocation, and other benefits to address the developmental needs and challenges faced by states with hilly or difficult terrain, low population density, strategic border locations, and economic backwardness. The benefits of this status include preferential treatment in central fund allocation, tax breaks, subsidies, and support for infrastructure development. #Bihar has been vocal in advocating for #SpecialCategoryStatus due to its high population density, low per capita income, inadequate infrastructure, and persistent socio-economic challenges. The state government believes that this status would provide the necessary resources to accelerate its development and address issues like poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment. Following the #GeneralElections, the emphasis placed by leaders such as #ChandrababuNaidu and #NitishKumar on securing special category status for #AndhraPradesh and #Bihar has revitalized the debate on this important issue.

Bharat is on an optimistic economic path. Next 20 years isn't promised but it's a golden window of opportunity. The capable youth must step up and build. Tourism to tech to agriculture are all open for innovation and value creation. Youth shouldn't hold back to take calculated risks. Prime minister can do things on his level but there is a trend where his name is being called for the most local issues. All citizens are equally responsible for change. Capable youth should work for it on local levels. We must work for better policies and corruption free governance at local bodies. BBMP and BMC would be a good point to start. A very critical note on how narratives can be built to hide rural distress through definitional techniques is given in this article. While it is important to reduce the number of people who are dependent on agriculture evidence suggests that alternative sources of income are getting reduced for the rural population especially after the COVID-19 crisis. There is a dire need to address this issue through policy initiatives and the promises of rising rural income needs to be kept beyond election planks. Conceptualising sustainable food systems throughout India is needed and this was a crucial area of discussion during our Food Systems and Rural Development course led by Imran Amin at Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP). The interval gap from sowing seeds to understanding the post-production revenue is comparatively long. Farmers lend money from different fronts to match the primary investment on fertilisers, seeds, tools, and other personal expenses. Post independence, traders and moneylenders took advantage of poor peasants and landless workers by lending money to them at huge interest rates and also influencing their accounts and trapping them. In the year 1969, India started social banking and different agencies who could provide funds to satisfy the requirements of rural credit. Later in the year 1982, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was formed as an apex body to regulate and organise all the financial activities concerning the rural financial system. This became more concrete when the Green Revolution came and changed the credit system of the country, resulting in a productive lead of rural credit. Today, rural banking includes a set of various financial institutions, particularly regional rural banks (RRBs), cooperatives, commercial banks, self-help groups, and land development banks. They assign sufficient credit at cheaper interest rates
