Last week, we were honored to welcome Professor Emeritus Yechezkel Barenholz, an expert in drug delivery and a co-inventor of #Doxil®, a liposomal formulation of doxorubicin used for cancer treatment. Together with him, our team co-authored the study “Quantitative Cryo-TEM Reveals New Structural Details of Doxil-Like PEGylated Liposomal Doxorubicin Formulation” (https://lnkd.in/d8xWFgXP). This study demonstrates that cryo-TEM (cryogenic transmission electron microscopy), combined with advanced image analysis, can successfully determine multiple structural parameters of complex liposomal nano-drugs, providing statistically-sound data QuTEM offers detailed TEM-analysis of circularity, lamellarity, membrane thickness, integrity, aggregation, vector content, and morphological assessment, along with custom classification, helping customers to gain insights on product stability, drug release efficiency or product potency for example. #TEM #QuTEM #Liposome #innovation https://lnkd.in/d8xWFgXP

Biodistribution and function of coupled polymer-DNA origami nanostructures Researchers have developed nanoscale agents, formed from a hybrid of polymer and DNA origami, demonstrating stability in serum and controlled tissue diffusion. The agents, stable for over five days post-injection, were functionalized with aptamers targeting tumor necrosis factor TNF-alpha, showing a significant reduction in inflammatory response in a humanized TNF-alpha mouse model. This approach offers spatial control over drug distribution, potentially minimizing adverse effects. The programmable nature of polymer-DNA hybrid nanostructures presents a novel avenue for drug control, akin to monoclonal antibodies but with added spatial precision.
