The liquid in the vessel was preserved in a very large volume - more than three and a half liters. Chemical analysis has not been performed yet, but the appearance, smell and context of the findings suggest that this rice wine is a popular drink of Ancient China, used in funeral rituals as well. KoroThe first evidence of alcoholic beverages consumption on China date back to the Neolithic era. About 9000-year-old pottery shows traces of a drink that chemists identified as a discarded mixture of fruits, rice and honey. True, it is impossible to accurately identify the fruits used to make wine. It could have been grapes (its bones were discovered in Jiahu), but it could have been, for example, a kizil or a coward.
