When you interview for a job in person, are you friendly to everyone you encounter? I have worked at small companies where we all rotated answering the phone and the door. When people would come in to meet with the owners, they would often interact with whoever was on door or phone duty. Sometimes, the owners would ask us what we thought of them. Don't save your good impression for the interview itself. Be friendly to everyone from the parking attendant on up. After all, if you're hired, you are likely to see these people every day and maybe even more often than the people interviewing. If this doesn't come naturally to you, ask a friend to help you role play interacting with different people you might meet on the way to the interview.

Recruiters have usually worked with the client you're interviewing with before. When they give you information on preparation, they know what works. They know what the client likes, what they are likely to ask and importantly they want you to get the role Yet we see so many people not take the time to review it. Here's the thing, we want to put great people into great roles, and it's likely we've sent two or three people over to that client for that role. It's also likely those other people, with a similar skill sets, have read the info and prepared for the interview. If you haven't, you're at a disadvantage. We don't put Interview preparation together because we've nothing better to do! We do it because if you're getting invited to interview, the client thinks you could be a good hire, so we want to give you every opportunity to make that offer happen. #TalentAcquisition #DoWhatYouLove #InterviewPreperation

What do you do if you are being ghosted after a job interview after you’ve tried to follow up and get them to respond? Nothing. Squat. Move on. I have been ghosted before. I didn’t like it. Therefore, I try not to ghost. But none of this is useful to you right now. Nor is posting about it or complaining to the recruiter. It won’t change the fact that they don’t want to hire you. It won’t give you closure. What is useful to you is for me to tell you that the employer is just not that into for reasons you will never know, and that the best thing you can do is keep your chin up and focus on crushing your next interview. That, my friend, is something you can control. #samscareertalk

If you’re interviewing at a company and it’s looking promising... keep looking. It's never a done deal until there's paperwork in front of you to sign. Doesn't matter if you land a final interview or if everyone's telling you how great you are. I've seen too many people get attached to one company, it falls through, they are emotionally drained and back to square one. If they're conducting a final interview, there are probably at least a couple of others in the process and you should never have all your eggs in one basket. Job search is a two-way street, if companies are interviewing multiple people, you should be interviewing at multiple companies.

No one will pass your hiring process if you're focus is to find reasons to not hire. I recently had a company interview several people and the focus of the questions were 'tell me every mistake you've ever made'. Add to that, the process was multiple rounds. The candidates called me after each interview feeling drained and uninspired. Bottom line is that not one candidate wanted to go there so they accepted other jobs where they felt welcomed. No matter how good your company is, if candidates (even if they are not right for you) don't know it when they leave an interview, you will not have your pick of top people.

It can be frustrating to feel like you're being interviewed for a position that might already have a predetermined candidate. However, it's essential to approach every interview with professionalism and give your best effort. Remember that not every interview process is transparent, and sometimes decisions are made for reasons beyond your control. Focus on presenting your best self and using each experience as a chance to refine your interviewing skills. If you encounter multiple instances where you feel the process is insincere, it may be worth evaluating whether the company aligns with your values and professional expectations. #justsaying #hiringprocess #hiring
