Today participated as national faculty for TOT on ABC of Antibiotics: IAP module 2024. Let's talk about #Antibiotics. A healthy dialogue. The simple concept of this module is having a conversation with practicing physicians & focus on facts & pk pd of antimicrobials. We all should promote such modules & initiatives & pledge "to stop antibiotic abuse & overuse" & also create awareness of irrational antibiotic combinations. "Antibiotic Guardianship" : Activated.

Antimicrobial resistance, in simple terms, occurs when an antimicrobial drug (e.g., antibiotics) no longer kills microbes (e.g., bacteria). This means that when you have an infection and you take antibiotics, you won't get cured because the drugs are not effective. The good news is that it can be controlled. The bad news is that humans don't hear word💀. I believe the people reading this love to do things the right way, so I will write out some control measures for you: 1. Don't misuse and abuse antibiotics 2. Don't use antibiotics without a doctor's prescription 3. Finish your dose, i.e. make sure you finish all your tablets or capsules, even when you feel better. We can try to manage the therapeutics we have now while new therapeutics are being developed. Thank you for saving the planet by heeding to these few measures. P.s. the picture was taken in April 2022 during my undergraduate research project. This isolate was resistant to 10 out of the 11 antibiotics I used. ASCP Daily Diagnosis 04/22 CST More than 40% of patients with difficult-to-treat pathogens were prescribed older, generic agents despite the FDA approval of several new gram-negative antibiotics.
