Years ago I accepted a sales role in a firm and upon resumption I realize they've sacked 3 sales staff in the past 1year in that particular territory I was assigned. The issue with the territory is they have unrealistic expectations due to past experience from the territory that is not in conformity with the current reality. I knew I was already in for a long ride. The rest is history. Please do your own investigation before accepting any sales job mostly if you have a job handy and also check how often the company post for sales vacancies as this can be a pointer to something serious. #salesmanager #sales #salesrepresentative

I have experienced this situation before infact not quite long,I met sales figure in the territory less than #120m but the company's target was around #300m in a Territory that have never done #180m. After I have put all efforts, couple with the fact that my daily journey from my area of residence to my territory is like 2hrs30mins which was in know to management as we were negotiating and I was promised heaven and Earth just because I wanted to be used and stretched so i connected with old DBs in other areas and build more on my existing DBs to do #216m in a particular month #191m,#188m respectfully yet I was told it's was a shameful performance. When I checked the trend of managers in that territory I was the 6th person in less than 2yrs to manage that territory and one of the best. But the slave master keep say his investment in that trade is more than what's we are doing as a team. So after much insult, humiliation and reviews I decided to resign so I can have my peace.I never knew HR and management have it in their tradition to train,recruit people with less pay waiting while they look for how to frustrate good performed manager who have been able to stabilize their territory and recruit more DBs for the company, their game.

Great tip. Also it's funny how a business will let go of 5 different people for not meeting targets and not at some point ask THEMSELVES what could be the problem?

I don’t really conform with your perspective on this, every organization is out to sort out its problem in the market and looking for the best fit and also game changers, I mean that’s the reason for employment if not, what’s the essence of employing someone.

Ensure you visit your prospective company's - Glassdoor reviews, filter salesperson reviews, interviews, salary, CEO - Google reviews, and see what clients are saying about the product. - LinkedIn page, Facebook -Instagram etc... Not everything has to click. But, If you find a few things positive consider your personal preferences. If the company is not visible online or has a handful of reviews, that's a clear indication that you are in for a ride. Prepare for the grind.

I had similar experience, it was so tough and gradually affecting my mental health and family. Funny enough my wife and son noticed I was not doing well as expected but as a man sometimes you choose to keep things to yourself and keep pushing hoping for a better result. The experience was not a good one but I later resigned.

Had a similar experience some years back to go and manage a territory that delivers average of 15m monthly and you want me to deliver 40m monthly, asked my line manager what was the parameters used to marked up this target to 40m, he could not give a reasonable answer after some months l resigned
