This is Robo-Egli v2. 🤖 Four years ago, I had the pleasure to organize the Digital ID2020 Conference 🔬 in Basel - we made a short video to summarize the event. Now with the #HeyGen technology you can take any video (e.g. from Youtube, like this one: https://lnkd.in/ekHzycE8 (original version)) and directly translate it to any language you want - in my case Swedish (see below, Swedish fun starts at 00:43). A few things to note here: (i) Obviously, I do not speak a single word Swedish; (ii) the tool perfectly synchronizes the language with my lip movement (but still not perfect as it synchronizes my voice over a few attendees - which looks pretty funny 😂); and (iii) I gained a few kilos since then (glad, the AI did not change this). ➡ This technology is truly mind blowing. You can translate any lecture you gave to any language. ➡ Looking back four years, shortly after the conference, the pandemic was keeping us busy in the laboratories, but lots of innovation happened in the field of communication. As we all know video conferences became a standard to interact. ➡ AI will now further boost different aspects of communication. I see equity in education, by giving access to communication capacity and democratization of knowledge. I am sure it will soon be possible to summarize more complex content in easier words via video and not just as text. ➡ You should make AI your personal new year priority for 2024. 🎙️AI4CSM #standardization expert Erwin Schoitsch at the #Society5.0 #conference in Vienna, representing AI4CSM and other projects like A-IQ Ready, AIMS5.0, and PowerizeD, targeting #Sustainability, #Technology #Development, and Human-Centered approaches. 💡According to Erwin Schoitsch, the achievements of #digitalization require a critical view of #technical progress. The term Society 5.0 was formulated to develop assistive #technologies for the aging population, especially #robotics. Humans, as part of a "super smart society", an extensive network from the street to the bedroom, may be an exaggerated idea. However, smart products and #infrastructures are also being sought in Europe to solve a wide range of challenges. The #EU is now following the predecessor trend of Industry 4.0 with a political programme of subsidies, regulations and funded research for a sustainable society, under consideration of #ethical, #societal and #human aspects as essential parts of the initiatives.

Now the cyber dust is starting to settle, many of us are reflecting on the whirlwind of London Tech Week last week – an event that started in just one room and now takes over Olympia, along with fringe venues across the capital. It’s a chance to witness the latest innovations in everything from #AI to sustainable tech, and some of the incredible strides we’re making towards a smarter, greener, more connected world. 🌟 Reflecting on a Surprising Encounter During a Online Meeting Today 🌟 I had the privilege of participating in a comprehensive meeting for a research project I'm deeply involved in at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, FAU WiSo. This session was part of a larger initiative that brought together brilliant minds to discuss their research findings after three years of hard work. The projects, centered around the theme of "#AI and #People," aimed to explore how #artificial #intelligence can coexist with #humanity to foster #sustainable #societies. The diversity of ideas and the potential for real-world impact were truly inspiring. 🔍 The Moment of Surprise As we delved into the meeting, presenting and discussing the fruits of our three-year journey of research and innovation, an unexpected request from the moderator took us all by surprise. "Can you turn off your camera when you are not speaking?" we were asked. The reason? To improve the meeting's quality by conserving bandwidth. In 2024, this request felt almost anachronistic. It was a stark reminder of the challenges we still face in our digital infrastructure, despite our advances in technology. The importance of facial contact and expressions in online meetings cannot be overstated – they are the bridges of empathy and understanding in a virtual space. This unexpected turn of events triggered a sense of disconnect, an outgroup effect that was palpable among us. 💡 The Silver Lining Despite this challenge, the meeting was a testament to the resilience and adaptability of human collaboration. I was captivated by the shared vision of how AI and humanity can coalesce to forge paths towards sustainability. 🚀 A Call to Action This experience, while surprising, serves as a powerful reminder of the gaps we still need to bridge in our journey towards technological sustainable advancement. As we discuss AI and its capabilities, let us also commit to enhancing our digital infrastructure, ensuring that it keeps pace with our ambitions.
