- I can't count the number of times I've had to go to plan B, C, or D due to logistical issues. Taking a small amount of preparation time can really ensure you get the most out of your valuable research sessions. While you can't always avoid issues, it's important to make sure your wording and the research logistics are completely smoothed out. If either of these points are lacking, you could get negative responses that don't actually represent the experiences of participants. After drafting your study, I suggest reading the questions and instructions out loud. That will help you check the clarity and the tone of your interaction with participants. You absolutely should not skip this step for any unmoderated research where you won't be present to guide users or probe for understanding.
