Agile vs. waterfall

- Regardless of your role within an organization, their structure and approach to development can also impact how research is run. Some organizations use a project management development model called Waterfall. It has distinct stages for requirements gathering, design development, and testing, which do not overlap. In this model, rigorous research is done in the requirements gathering and design phase, which is sometimes called discovery, and then again at the very end of development. In contrast, many organizations have been turning to the Agile methodology. It adopts rapid iterative cycles of launching, measuring, and pivoting as needed. There are no distinct sections for each phase. There are lots and lots of variations of Agile processes, but they're all designed to uphold the core Agile values, including customer satisfaction, responding to feedback or changing environments, and releasing working code regularly.
