- [Instructor] In addition to manual input, devices often include sensors that can gather data from the environment, either autonomously or on-demand. There are many types of sensors, some common like microphones and cameras, and some specialized like 3D facial recognition. Sensor data may be used for a wide range of purposes, detect location, direction of movement, and local atmospheric conditions. This can help provide information about context. Detect a person's physical state or condition, such as pulse and blood oxygen levels. Recognize and offer information about sounds or other objects nearby, and to make device adjustments, such as modifying screen brightness and color temperature based on ambient light and time of day. Sensors on devices may provide useful information, but this is also often personal and private information so we need to design products that are transparent about the data they collect, explain…
